Comfortable seating, friendly service, no music to compete with (when we were there), and food... oh, the food!

Far better than we had hoped for. The pizzas are loaded with toppings and delicious. A large pizza is more than a meal for one. Wonderfully different vegetarian options from the standard vegy lasagne mushroom burger. The ribs were drool-worthy with an enticing sticky Cola smokey flavour. Yeah, I tried everyone else's food.

I ordered the steak because, well, I love steak. But also because I haven't had the option to have a garlic sauce before. This is my jam! Or sauce, as it were. The steak was seared well with a notable caramel crust. Covered in the aforementioned garlic sauce, which was not as garlicky as I was expecting. It didn't overpower the beef but instead gave a morish pool of additional flavour to drag each slice of beef I carved off.

As for the beef itself. Not the softest cut on the market, so don't expect to pay high-end prices. Cut thinner slices off and savour the intense grass fed beefyness cooked exactly how you like it. Add a little salt and balance that would impress a Jedi is achieved.

Oh, and the mash was creamy, as promised. A perfect pallet cleanser between bites of glorious cow.

Sorry, I didn't slow down in time to get a photo before...

We stopped in waihi for lunch over a Monday public holiday, and there wasn't much open. We stumbled on this place, and I was impressed with the gluten-free options that I could eat. The kids' menu was varied, and there were menus for burgers, pizza, all-day breakfast, and lunch.

The staff were lovely and helpful in dealing with our complex order (autistic kids and dietary requirements). All food came out as ordered.

I had the kumara, chicken, and feta pizza with a gluten-free base, and it was hands down the best pizza I've had. Kids had pancakes, which they inhaled, and my partner had the chicken burger, which he said was the juiciest chicken burger he'd had.

This was also hands down one of the best value meals we've had!

The only challenging aspect was that smokers were allowed to smoke at the outdoor dining area, and the wind blew the smoke back inside through the front floor and lovely gold back window, smoking out the front section of the Cafe. We moved twice to get away...

Wow what an amazing place! You could almost miss it passing through on the main street but once inside very welcoming. Not overly contemporary but very warm, well organised and clean. The mocha I had was lovely, traditional mug and the coffee itself silky smooth, not a hint of burntness which can be common nowadays.

Staff were super inviting & friendly.

Didn't have a chance to eat but what did come out looked amazing and very good protions, especially for the price which was very reasonable. Great variety too, breakfasts, pizzas, burgers, other meals and counter food. Can't remember the last time I've seen a big breakfast for $21, will 100% be going back for that soon. Edit: Went back for the breakfast - was not disappointed - check out the photos!!

They also had a bar so will definitely be seeing what the evening vibe is like next time I'm around at...
