the mild butter chicken is very oddly sweet, the medium butter chicken is a lot closer to a 'normal' mild one.

my problem is they like putting the rice in a shared container when you purchase multiple meals, this means we then have to split the food up into separate containers again so the meals can be dropped off to different family members. we noticed when splitting the meals again there wasn't enough rice to fill the normal rice containers we would've got if they hadn't put it in a shared one. we thought that maybe this was why they had the slightly discounted special for 3 meals was because you actually get less rice even though the description says "3 x rice", you only get 2 containers. The next time we decided to get the 3 butter chicken meals, pay the full price (not the special) and order them separately but still they use shared containers. The next time we tried to order 2 completely different meals to show they are separate but they still used a shared container. It just feels like we're being ripped off, i'm not sure why they'd skimp on food for customers who are spending more money purchasing multiple meals? The food is usually ok when you don't bite into rogue cardamom pods (they forgot to remove them a few times) but we won't be ordering here again, we like to get...

Edited to add a recent experience and amend the 'stars': i love to support local businesses, but unfortunately our last 2 orders for takeaway have been well below standard which has been very disappointing. Perhaps a change of management or chef. Sauces now appear watered down, and in our curries, we had 4 pieces/cubes of chicken and 5 in the other. I cannot justify paying good money for the equivalent of maaaybe 1/3 of a chicken breast worth of meat. We now opt to drive to paeroa for our curry fix!

Original review:Our go-to takeout locally, and somewhere we happily take visiting friends and family. Great food, excellent value. Dining in is lovely, the restaurant space is bright, clean and the staff are quick and attentive. This would be a great space for a private function too. They have a full licensed bar and offer home delivery for online orders. If you're visiting the restaurant there is also really cool history to the building as is hinted at in the name, this is the original Waihi Borough Council Chambers building. Many of the original features remain including the original vault (which you can see from the main bar) and the mayor's meeting table (which is the curved table in the main dining room), just to name a few. Highly recommend...

I ordered online which was very easy and chose to pickup at 5pm. I entered the restaurant at a little after 5 and my order was ready and waiting for me. The young lady whom served me was delightful and has a fantastic smile. I hurried home looking forward to tucking in to my dinner. I had ordered the Onion Bhaji, an Chicken Tikka Masala and an Chicken Korma. The Onion Bhaji came with 2 dipping sauces, one a mint yoghurt and the other i am uncertain of. It was delicious and a generous amount.The mint yoghurt sauce is fantastic. The Tikka Masala was absolutely delicious with a good amount of chicken. The Chicken Korma was creamy and so tasty and tender , my favourite of the meal. Both dishes came with the perfect amount of rice. I had chosen a medium spice heat for both dishes and they were spot on.
