If you are in Waihi and craving authentic Thai cuisine, Thai Lemongrass is a must-visit. My wife and I recently dined here and were thoroughly impressed by both the flavors and the warm, welcoming atmosphere.

We started with a Mixed Appetizer platter, which offered a delightful variety of crispy spring rolls, dumplings, and skewers. Each bite was fresh, well-seasoned, and paired wonderfully with the accompanying sauces.

For our mains, we tried the Spicy Fried Rice and Tom Yum Soup. • The Spicy Fried Rice was perfectly balanced, with a rich depth of flavor and a kick of heat that we absolutely loved. It wasn’t overwhelmingly spicy, making it an enjoyable dish for spice enthusiasts without being overbearing. • The Tom Yum Soup stood out for its subtle tanginess—unlike many versions that are overly sour. This one was beautifully balanced with just the right amount of citrus, spice, and fresh herbs, making it incredibly comforting and flavorful.

The service was attentive and friendly, and the portion sizes were generous. For a small-town gem like Waihi, this restaurant delivers an authentic Thai dining experience that rivals those in bigger cities.

My son and I love this place. The food is amazing (hat off to the chef) it's packed with beautiful flavours that work so well together and the portions are generous, made with fresh produce and presented beautifully. The aroma is mouthwatering. The owner Gaye, (hope I spelt that right) is so lovely and personal and the service from the lovely waitress Sarah is always friendly, polite and genuine, can offer recommendations and is such a beautiful, kind girl. Gaye's niece is also very lovely, polite and has a beautiful face that lights up when she smiles. These lovely ladies know how to take care of you. The atmosphere is homely, warm and comfortable. HIGHLY recommend the vegetarian Tom Kha soup, the Satay Chicken, Beef Fried Rice and Cashew Stir Fry with beef. This is now our once-a-week date spot. Cheers Ladies, for always making us...

Oh WOWEE. Didn't know what to expect but food was fabulous. Chicken pad Thai, ginger and black bean sauce with vegetables and beef, curry puffs and moneybags... Couldn't fault any of it. Flavours were amazing and they put the peanuts in separate container for the chicken Pad Thai. Staff were lovely from the girl that answered the phone and the lovely lad on the front counter. Next time we are going to eat in. Thank you so much. Well deserved 5 stars. We so enjoyed our takeaway dinner. Wendy Murcott, Bowentown.
