Waihi Bakery — Restaurant in Waikato

Exactly what you would expect from local bakery. Got a pie reasonably impressed with the amount of mushrooms. Happy with the Chicken sandwich too, only suggestion would be to distribute the mayo through the entire bun help to counter the dryness of the shredded chicken.

Now more to my area of expertise; Lamington review Pink Lamington - 5.9 /10 Positives good sponge soft and not dry. Great smell coming out of the bag. Icing applied well but not to the extend that would make it sodden.

Areas of improvement; Desiccated coconut used was coarse meaning the large pieces can leave a dryness momentarily in the mouth. Icing on 5/6 sides. While icing was applied well icing flavour may have been a bit too strong

Would certainly eat here again but might hang on to the lamington to enjoy with a cup of...

I got a bacon and avocado filled roll, paid for it at counter. Opened it, to add salt/pepper and come to find all the filling is pushed to the front to make it look full. There was barely any actual filling. I said to the lady you have put all the ingredients at the front of this and there is hardly any in here, she said very rudely "that's how we make them" I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere with her by protesting so I just left and the roll honestly just tasted like bread. $6.50 wasted. Ok, I guess I should add the preface of "It was Easter Monday, most food retailers were closed" but even still. My BLT sandwich roll was mostly bread and mayonnaise, with a sprinkle of lettuce, ?bacon? and tomato. The custard squares were tasteless and rubbery, and hot chips had the texture of being cooked yesterday and left in the warmer. We were very disappointed. Perhaps Easter Monday was not representative of normal business. I can understand that. But I'm sorry, I can't risk a return visit to find out....
