If I could give this place 0 stars, I absolutely would. From the moment I walked in, the entire experience was uncomfortable, disappointing, and honestly infuriating. The staff looked moody and completely uninterested in providing any kind of decent service – it felt like we were inconveniencing them just by being there. To make matters worse, the owner literally hovers around you while you’re waiting in line so the workers can cook your food. Instead of feeling welcomed, it feels intimidating and awkward, like you’re being watched the entire time. It makes you not want to relax, let alone ever come back. The food itself was nothing special at all. For a place that’s supposed to be about choice and variety, the options were incredibly limited. Especially when it comes to noodles – there are barely any choices, and what’s there feels cheap, bland, and completely uninspired. For the price you pay, you’d expect way more variety and quality, but instead you’re stuck with something that honestly tastes no better than the lowest effort takeaway. Overall, the combination of bad atmosphere, unfriendly service, an intimidating owner, and a very underwhelming food selection makes this one of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in Wellington. I’ll never come back, and I’d strongly recommend avoiding this place altogether. Save your time, money, and appetite – there are so many better Genghis Khan restaurants I’ve been too by far this being the worst Genghis khan restaurant that I’ve been too which other Genghis khans don’t treat customers like this and actually know how to serve food...

I’ve been too countless of Genghis Khans but none can compare to how horrible Wellington’s Genghis Khan was. The staff had an attitude and was disrespectful, the food presentation was absolute horror, and the food choices were extremely limited. For example, one young male ranging around early 20s to mid 20s had a visible annoyed facial expression etched across his face, and continuously rolled his eyes at my family and I which made us feel extremely disrespected. The owner kept on staring at my family and I as well as other customers which made my family and I feel visibly uncomfortable. The only respectful, kind staff member was this blonde girl who had a cheery, joyful, approachable personality which was truly amazing in contrast to the horrible staff. The food presentation all the way to how it tasted was absolutely awful. The food was portrayed disgustingly and the options were extremely limited. The food itself tastes really cheap, prior to the meat when it’s cooked it was presented as freeze dried which caused like the meat after it was cooked to taste dry and not appetising at all. Overall, my experience with Wellington Genghis Khan was horrible and I will definitely not be returning and won’t recommend at all. If you’re keen to visit Wellington Genghis Khan, the only good thing about it is its horrible customer service, poorly presented food, cheap, dry taste, and limited...

TERRIBLE experience! The food could have been enjoyable if the owner/ staff wasn’t RUDE! We asked the staff if its okay if one of us is not eating and said its fine, but after getting the food I gave him a try of one spoon to convince him to order but right after that the owner came angrily and told us off asking to pay $21 just because of 1 spoon which he didn’t even liked. I totally lost my appetite. It was my first time to see a restaurant owner/ staff who goes to the customers with a rude behaviour. She could have asked nicely or wait until we finish and pay. They could have told us about the condition at the entrance. All of us left unhappy and we did not even get the chance to enjoy the food. Take note, there was nothing special with their food, a very limited selection of meat and vegetable cooked stir fry which you can easily get from any Chinese restaurant. Not to mention the time you have to stand and wait to have your food cooked because there is only one chef and he can only cook one food at a time. It’s my first time to visit this place and will definetly not come back. This is the worst restaurant I have...

Interesting concept. Very friendly staff. Lovely door handles. Interior to eat for, yet, I can't help but feel concern for fellow recent vegans and veges (post 'Gamer Changers' (streaming now on Netflix)). Meat is overtly touchable on approach to the 'cook station'. Although the men were ultra friendly and cleaned the BBQ for our vege (shout out to the boys). And I was tempted by the special desert - deep friend ice cream - it was a highlight. The detail was outstanding. Also highly recommend the toilets. Have you ever drunk a bottle of rosé and ended up on set in the Shinning ?

Came here after a decent experience at the Auckland version. Chef only cooked one persons meal at a time which can lead to hideous queues in the small food gathering area. Haven't heard a word from the waitresses, luckily we knew what needed to happen in order to get your food. Only 3 other tables here while we are eating and queues at cooking detract significantly from the experience. Glad we tried it, but will not be returning.

Family and I enjoyed our meals. Have been to others around NZ and compared to these, I had to give this one 4 stars. The food is cooked with the help of sticks which cooks fine. But because the hot plate isn't fully cleaned after, you will end up with food that maybe is not entirely yours. The options were not as vast as in Auckland equivalents but again, was enjoyable enough to eat.
