Decided to go here for Valentine’s Day meal for me and my partner , reviews were good online so thought we’d give it a go. Atmosphere was alright although the floors were dirty and one of the workers was doing the vacuuming while we were trying to have our meal. We opted for the Buffett option. When we got up to the buffet there was little to no food left in it so we sat down and waited to see if they would top it up, after about 20 mins of waiting still not much food came out except for deep fried food which was extremely average the fish bites and chicken wings being extremely small. I only had one plate as well as my partner, for close to $40 each per head I could have got more options and better food at a local fish and chip shop . Didn’t even bother with the dessert or salads provided as there was flies all over the food. My partner today has now been crook all day with food poisoning which we believed may have been from the food last night. Wouldn’t come back...

The yum cha is excellent quality and good value for money. Yum cha carts only do the rounds during the day, otherwise the evening menu has a wide variety of tasty dumplings to choose from. The Crispy Roasted Pork and Roast Duck dish is a great favourite.

The fixed-price evening buffet is popular with locals, offering good variety and value for those with a big appetite, however desserts can be a little flavourless. As we tend to be big dumpling fans, we prefer to order from the menu.

Chinatown offers exactly what you would expect from a good Chinese restaurant. The chairs are comfortable, the tables are a good size, sturdy, have good linen coverings, and there is plenty of room between them. The staff are always friendly.

Consistent quality at good prices. This is the best place in Palmy to get your...

Quiet on a Tuesday night. Next to traffic light which allows you to watch traffic pass by. Low white light toughen reading black background menu. Ordered half a roast duck, tofu mixed with spicy sauce and mixed vegetables, stirred fried Kai lan and fried squid tentacles. The half roasted duck was worthy of the wait. Skin was crispy with tender & juicy meat. Tofu wasn't spicy & they gave a healthy portion of tofu compared to other restaurants. The stirred fried vege was slightly over done. Service was ok as she served 4 tables. It's able to accommodate over 30 tables at any time. Wed - Friday is buffet from 11am to 2.30pm & dinner buffet starts from 5pm to 9pm. Good...

I have lived in Palmerston North for 37 years and finally visited Chinatown. I had the Sizzling Beef. It was awesome. It literally sizzles on the plate. I intended on taking a picture before eating but alas it was so good all I got was a picture of the empty plate 🤣. The service was good but best you point to your menu choice as I told them the number of the dish and they didn't know what I was ordering. Well worth the cost.

I ordered the Peking duck for $80 and it was hands down the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The taste was absolutely revolting — disgusting to the point I couldn’t eat it. I cannot believe a restaurant would have the nerve to serve something of such low quality at that price. This is not just disappointing, it feels like a scam. Do not waste your money like I did. Serving food this bad to customers is shameful.

Best yum cha around this city, delicious. Wontons are the standout dish here will be my go to from now on. Pork ribs are very tender, but missing the fresh red chili on top. Prawn dumplings and pork dumplings I could not fault . Chicken and glutinous rice was lacking Chinese sausage and a delicious kick. Still very happy with service and food.
