Tapsi is located on the Mount Albert end of Dominion Road. There are a few street parking spots close to the restaurant and there is parking on the side roads around the area. The store sign can be easily missed as it isn't lit up. We came without a booking and was able to get a table. There is also an upstairs area too. The menu all sounds very interesting and there were generally chicken or lamb options and there were also some vegetarian ones. We weren't familiar with most of the items so we did grab some different ones to share. The portions were decently sized and the platters looked huge. I quite liked the mixed BBQ tikka which had a series of different charcoal BBQed items over your choice of rice or bread. We also grabbed a tashreeb and qozi chicken. The tashreeb was a lamb stew with bread inside soaking up all the delicious juices. The qozi chicken had a nice and spicy marinade and the rice was just amazing. It also came with a stew and we went with the tapsi stew, which I found to be a bit bitter. Of course we had dessert and it was the kunafa, humallebi and the pistachio balkava. The kunafa was delicious, crispy kataifi sandwiching the molten cheese sweetened with sugar syrup. The humallebi was also quite interesting, a milk pudding with rose flavouring. We definitely had a delicious meal here and there were other items that looked like we would need to come back to try and of course, getting more...
Read moreMy recent visit to Tapsi Restaurant was an absolute treat for the senses! This Middle Eastern gem delivered an unforgettable dining experience with a menu that’s a love letter to authentic flavors. The ambiance, with its warm lighting and Middle Eastern decor, set the perfect mood for a cozy yet vibrant meal. We dove into the Mezze Platter, a colorful spread of dips and appetizers bursting with fresh, zesty flavors perfect for sharing. The Mixed BBQ Platter was a highlight, featuring perfectly grilled, succulent meats with just the right balance of subtle spices. The Erbil Kebab was a standout, tender and packed with bold, smoky notes. The Fatosh salad was a refreshing complement, with crispy pita and a tangy dressing that tied it all together. The Turkish Bread, warm, fluffy, and utterly addictive.
For dessert, the Kunafa was the rightly sweet, crispy delight with its gooey cheese and syrupy goodness, while the Muhallebi offered a creamy, delicate finish that left us smiling.
We capped the meal with Turkish Coffee, rich and aromatic.
The service was warm and attentive, with staff happy to guide us through the menu and ensure we felt right at home.

Read moreWent with some friends on a Friday evening Carpark is at the rear of building, is quite dark and does feel unsafe ,but plenty of parking The entrance of the restaurant is quite small and looks very congested We were sent upstairs and to our surprise it was well set out and spacious The decor was amazing We went straight for the main meals Which started at $35. The portion size was huge We had got the kapsa chicken, Moroccan chicken ,lamb, chicken skewer The food was top notch and very tasty Served in a wooden platter Only disappointment was that the food went cold quickly I found the wooden platter to be a bit of a hygiene issue being overused and had a spilt in it The glassware ( metal) looked good from the outside but looking into it this was also overused with scratches Fizzy drinks are served straight in a can Service from staff was friendly Though 1 staff member I had noticed was wearing a long sleeve sweater Upon placing our meal on the table he had to reach over another meal ,just by inches his sleeve missed touching the meal If it had i was sure to send it back The ambiance and atmosphere was great Happy to dine in again Make sure to go on a...
