service and staff were lovely however, for an all you can eat buffet, it was incredibly overpriced and the range was very limited. we were 2 adults and had 1 coke and 1 LLB, which totalled $166. that seemed an outrageous amount (it came recommended by an activity instructor who could not praise the restaurant more highly, hence we were unaware of the pricing and didn't do anymore investigation into it)
as mentioned above, and I CANNOT stress this enough: the range was very limited for seafood all they had was prawn and oysters, for meat: 2 types (roast chicken which you could probably get from any supermarket, and beef).
I think the fact that if I took a plate, I could literally put every dish available, on it, speaks volumes about the range. what's more disappointing, is that the quality of the food was not like the approx $75pp fee we paid for it, but more like a cheap $30pp we could get in Melbourne (where we're from), and probably with more range, and more likely to get our money's worth. but I guess that's what you sort of get in such a touristy place
CONCLUSION what it's trying to sell itself as: fine dining price and views what it actually is: cheap Tuesday all you...
Read moreWe had a very bad dining experience here, its such a shame when it turned out there were so many really good restaurants in Queenstown. It is simply a bad buffet which is unusual for a restaurant in an hotel nowadays. The food is overcooked from the warmers and yet still manages to be cold. The seafood is all on ice so if you prefer it hot this is not the place to be.The beef was raw and sitting in blood so not at all appetising even if I had wanted raw beef for dinner. Our waitress was loud and talked about herself a great deal whilst we waited endlessly for a glass of wine and ate dessert with the dirty dinner plates from the main course still on the table. She then chased us into the bar to have us sign the docket for the meal, although we had given our hotel room number at the start, perhaps she had returned to the table to finally clear it? Breakfast was nice enough although the warmers were still overcooking the food whilst not managing to keep it hot.So nice when there is a person making eggs to order in a buffet situation perhaps this restaurant could give it a go. Not recommended, and our evening spoilt by below average food and very...
Read morePro: Restaurant was on level 6 so the view was great.
Cons: we paid $37 per pax to dine in for breakfast and was not impressed. Variety was sufficient - egg station, salad, bacon/sausages, bread; however certain items like smoked salmon took a very long time to replenish and the plate was always empty. Even as they were alerted that it was empty, staff took a long time to replenish (it’s as if they are trying to limit customer’s intake) . Egg station took forever as well even though there were not many people. Service was slow and poor, with many staff hardly smiling nor clearing dishes actively when prompted. Sometimes the staff would ask another person to take over even when you asked him for help. I could tell that most were not happy working here.
Food quality was sub par too. Salad was wilted and sausage was hard and salty. Croissant and pastry were cold.
The nearest breakfast place was 15mins walk away from the hotel. If I’m coming to Queenstown again I’d probably stay somewhere nearer to the food places.
A staff saw us leaving as she was wiping the countertop and did not even look up as we leave. Service was...
