Love to give this a negative score. Notice how there is no e-mail contact on their website...that's why they give a phone number so that they can just wave you off when there is something you would like to feed back to them. Lets just list the issues I was confronted with when I took my son and his friend out for a birthday dinner. Prices on the website are wrong; floors dirty and sticky only 15 minutes after opening for service; all cutlery was visibly dirty; food was terrible, luke warm buffet food, with the 'special thai green curry' being congealed and I had no way of spooning onto my rice because of how dry and 'stuck together' it was; my son knocked over his drink and was quite embarrassed about it, when I asked for something to clean it up, I was handed a wet cloth and spent the next 10 minutes trying to mop up a spill with a facecloth sized cloth - MYSELF walking back and forth the restaurant to rinse the cloth; the boys had to go to the toilet, and being young they are to be accompanied by an adult, on my return they had cleared our table of the boys half eaten desert, now I have two unhappy kids to deal with on the way home as they couldn't finish their deserts. If you are the owner of this restaurant reading this review, I suggest that you take this advice sincerely, put up correct pricing, have your staff trained on food hygiene standards and employ a e-mail contact for your less than satisfied customers so that we don't have to share our disgruntled experiences on the web...
Read moreI really enjoyed myself and would recommend that whoever you are reading this :-) you should stop reading and just get over there right now for a good feed :-) All the bad reviews are about previous owners. This is probably the only place that I have found in New Zealand where you can actually eat as much as you want :-) coming from America where an all you can eat buffet is very common I was surprised to find that it is a rare thing in New Zealand :-) I went just an hour before closing time on a Tuesday when you might expect the worst out of a restaurant :-) as I slowly and methodically tested every dish available I became more and more pleased :-) everything was fully stocked and fresh as :-) anything you might say negative was in fact a positive thing for me :-) I felt the price very reasonable and was actually pleased to see that the soda was not included :-) I don't like soda :-) and so I didn't have to pay extra for it :-) I was quite amazed that even taking small portions I could not try it all before I was full :-) this restaurant Great Taste in Dunedin actually had good Mexican...
Read moreAs someone who cannot eat gluten, it is great to have a restaurant buffet that caters to allergies and medical conditions. However, last night there was a list with gluten free options (piece of paper) and blue stickers that are supposed to indicate gluten free next to the food items. In many cases they did not add up (things were marked with blue stickers but not on the list, or on the list but didn't have blue stickers). Other foods (ie the entire salad bar and steamed rice and potentially the desert sauces) had no blue stickers but looked gluten free, where as blue stickers (not on list) were on a number of foods fried in batter and egg noddles potentially with soy with no explanation as to what was in them instead. I actually found eating here super stressful and when I asked a staff member got told to 'stick with the list'. If it was properly labelled it would be a reasonable price and would go more often, sadly at this point there are too many other restaurants in Dunedin that cater confidently for the gluten free customer. Would have preferred to send an email but...
