Columbus Coffee — Restaurant in Waitākere Ranges

Our family love to visit Colombus in Glen Eden. Infact my parents who are retired visit regularly throughout the week as they enjoy the $10 breakfast specials. As a family, we meet for breakfast with our parents on saturday’s. The service we receive from Phoenix is amazing, she makes my parents feel welcome each and every time. She remembers their order, the way they like their coffee, and more importantly she addresses my parents by their name - I love that, such a personal feeling. I am not sure if my review would do the service we receive from Phoenix justice, but I hope it does, she deserves the recognition (Thank you Phoenix!). Last weekend we were enjoying our breaky when we noticed this awesome vibe in the cafe. One of the employees was bouncing around serving customers, running coffee orders out, remembered my parents from the previous day so stopped to say hello, she was awesome, a mini phoenix if you ask me so I asked her if she was the Manager and she said “no im the owner”. Wow, talk about Leading her staff by example! Today was disappointing, arrived a couple of minutes after 10am. Grace tells us we’re too late for the $10 special. I mentioned that I was suprised as were regulars, always good to look after your regulars, no facial or verbal response from Grace just “and was that bacon for both meals?” - personal touch out the window. Last Saturday my husband bought takeaway coffee and a matcha latte while I was at a store across from the cafe. Wished I had taken a sip as soon as I got in the car but I didn't take that first sip until we were already on the road to our destination. It was the most horrible tasting matcha I have ever had, the matcha powder was in clumps which made it unbearable to drink. Basically, the matcha powder had not been mixed to thoroughly dissolve the powder. It was a terrible experience to the taste buds and a total waste of money! Date scone looked yummy but when I buttered it just crumbled butter hard as. French toast Maple syrup need to b on a small side dish so one can add how much they wanted ..
