Booked a group for lunch, was told they had a $13 lunch special. When we went to order the waitress said it wsnt available that day but then changed her mind and said yes we could have it. The menu is overcomplicated .. The menu lists a light price and a regular price. We assumed by light they mean less calories,, but no they means a smaller size then there is the smaller size again for the lunch special which is even smaller than the light size. So whats the deal .. It isnt a special if you just reduce the size to give a cheaper price... When I asked for some parmesan to add to my pasta I was told when the waitress brought it to the table in a little teeny bowl ( approx a tablespoon) that it would cost me an extra $2.So I sent it back. When we questioned this practise we got a lecture on seafood pasta wasnt served with parmesan .. Soo what I still would have liked some. I think this place needs to give it,s head a shake and think about their customer. I felt that everylittle thing was scrutinized down to the last drop. The wine serving was also very mean. .The food was OK a little unloved and very ordinary but my friends enjoyed everything except the salad which was soo salty one of them didnt eat it. When the waitress asked at the end we told her about the too much salt and she quipped "you should have told me earlier as I could have fixed it ." However she didnt offer even a free coffee to the agrieved customer. Really a bad look The waitress while efficient was really annoying and quite blunt ,, she got on our nerves constantly talking in a very high pitched voice. This is the 4th visit I have had to this restaurant and the last.I am...
Read moreRecently visited La Rosa on sunday for a family dinner. Arrived with Wine for BYO and we also had 4 premixes (these were to take home) Our waitress informed us that they were BYO wine only. No problems as we had no intentions of opening 4 pre mixed jack daniels in a family restaurant with our son. However when we paid our bill the manager had added corkage for these as she was under the influence that the two men at our table had passed the premixes under the table to each other and drank them. She didn't actually ask us , just charged us corkage. We were absolutely appalled by this, where is the trust and what ever happened to good old honesty and asking a paying customer if they had actually consumed these drinks (we had not either all 4 were in the cardboard packaging and sealed). She had assumed and if not for one of us actually reading the bill correctly then we would have paid more moneys. When the manager was approached to why she had done this, she replied with 'its ok now i asked the girl and she said you guys didn't drink them so i took the corkage off your bill' . So we were charged but because we noticed it was taken off. This was such a crappy thing to do and could have all been avoided if she actually genuinely came over and asked us. It left us all very unhappy and its a pity really as we were having a lovely time. May need to look closely at your customer service and not assume the worst from your paying...
Read moreThe name alone screams Italian. La rosa is truely west aucklands most Italianeny Italian restuarant. This is imediatly noticeable from a glance at the wooden door to the outdoor area. Its the kind of door you would contract splinters from which is very italian. La rosa sticks to its Italian roots by having holes in the floor by the wooden door. The old Italian stiletto trap they call it. Its an ancient Italian trick to keep geust on their toes. And what italian restaurants would be complete without a complimentary hole in the roof by the toilet for piping, once again La Rosa have just that. The menu is very authentic with classic dishes such as Stickedea pastarasta, spagett blalls and ricky ravioli. Outsise strong gusts of cigarette and burnouts smoke may blow in from the road to the deck. This isnt ideal as pasta dishes go cold quickly. Luckily old La Rosa have you covered there to. The have a big silver pasta masta 226,622 as seen in the photos below where you may place your bowl under the pasta lamp for a quick reheat. It really is superb.
La Rosa have it all from splintery doors, stilleto traps, exposed pipes, pista and pasta masta's its basicly more Italian than an Italian thing from somewhere...
