Hansan — Restaurant in Waitematā

Service wasn't friendly. Shrimp and pork summer rolls were just OK, the pork looked like grey carpet and tasted like cardboard, but nice herbs. The Vietnamese spring rolls were really nice, light and tasty. The broth of the combination seafood and pork noodle soup was boring, and the pork was dry and had no taste. The chicken curry (with rice) broth was really tasty, but the chicken was overcooked. The complimentary Jasmine tea was lovely. I asked for Vietnamese drip coffee but they didn't do it, there were no duck dishes at all, and the Vietnamese chicken salad doesn't have Thai basil or coriander so I didn't order that. This was my first time at a Hansan restaurant and they are usually rated quite highly so I was left unimpressed overall, but will try...

3 basic foods in Vietnamese cooking. Aromatics(basil, mint, shiso) ~Lime ~Fish sauce This restaurant has none of these. Very sad. When I politely asked for some fish sauce, they offered a watered down watery substance. When a staff member delivered, it came with a free scowl and negative attitude.

If you have never experienced Vietnamese food before, please do not use this restaurant as an example.

The food is a limp, pale substitute for Vietnamese cuisine.

Go home, research Vietnamese cuisine and make it the real way for a cheaper price.

Hansan was one of my fav place to eat pho since when I was in Uni as the quality of the food and service was almost perfect when a guy was in charge (I think they have new manager or owner now - everything has been changed since then)

Visited there for twice in a month and I was shocked. ordered po8 and meat's gone bad as it tasted sour - told a lady who seem like manager or/owner and she provided new dish without saying sorry.

Ordered C12 last Sunday and again, chicken's gone bad - dried, smelly, tasted weird.
