ProfessioNail Newmarket — Local services in Waitematā

I’ve been a regular customer at ProfessioNail Newmarket coming in every two weeks for my nails and sometimes my toes, so I’ve always appreciated the service here. However, my recent experience has changed my perspective.

I got my nails done recently, and they weren't up to the usual standards I’ve come to expect (bubbles in the polish, etc.), so I reached out via Instagram. In my messages I expressed the fact I visit a lot and never normally have any issues, that I was sorry as I didn't like to complain. They were kind and promised to help me, which I appreciated. I went in a few days later, and they fixed them for me. At that point, everything seemed fine, and I expressed my gratitude.

Yesterday, I returned for my regular 2-week infill and a pedicure. I was told they were too busy to serve me and to try somewhere else. I said I’d wait, but they refused and told me no. I waited outside for a bit, only to see another customer being served right away. I went back in to ask about it, and that’s when a staff member told me that because I had previously asked for a fix-up, they no longer wanted to do my nails. They told me because I had also complained previously in May last year due to me feeling like my nails looked a bit 'unfinished' around the sides. I was told at that point for my phone number and that the manager would call me back. No one ever contacted me, so I choose to let it go because as I have stated I have always appreciated the service here. Yesterday I was shocked and hurt, especially considering how much money I’ve spent there, and how many times I’ve recommended the salon to friends and family. I am not a rude or nasty person; I just wanted my nails fixed to how they would normally product them 99.9% of the time.

If they didn’t want to work on my nails anymore, they should have told me during my fix-up visit, not next time I arrive for a regular appointment. The way I was treated was completely unprofessional and rude.

If you are a loyal paying customer here, I would highly recommend looking at spending your money at a nail bar that truly appreciates and values their loyal customers. I have been coming to this salon for several years, I have never had any issues and am always very happy with my nails and the service I receive from my regular nail technician. However today, she was away so I saw someone else.

There was confusion from the start, mainly due to the fact she didn’t really listen and was too busy chatting to her friend sitting next to her, rather than focusing on my nails. After one coat of base colour, I politely asked whether the colour was going to give me the desired result. She went and got another woman to come and have a look. This woman proceeded to yell and scream at me - she didn’t even try to listen, she continued to yell over the top of me. After several minutes of being yelled at, I then showed her a photo of my own nails with the previous colour I’d had - then she semi-calmed down. Told the nail tech to change the base colour and walked away.

The client sitting next to me, then leaned across and told me that she has also been screamed at by the same woman at a previous appointment. I have also witnessed this woman yelling at other customers in the past - it is mortifying to be yelled at and belittled in public for no reason.

The end result, was I have nails that are fine but the experience was terrible. The nail technician doing my nails was extremely apologetic and gave me a card to get $20 off my next appointment.

What a place not to be!!!! I know professional bails since years ago is not the best place to be, Irs just happened I have to do my nails two weeks ago. Without disrespect I hate this new mall- parking, atmosphere and service is not that great anyway! Someone did my nails a week ago first time ever and he messed it up! Came home and called back and Anna who sounds very Asian said said come anytime I will fix it for you. I came today just a simple request and it’s sounds like she is scolding me- and she is so abrupt talking to someone one in her own language in front of me what ever!! I found it very arrogant and rude- At the end of the day I can pay more than what Anna expects from professional nail Newmarket but I think she is very very rude and arrogant how she handles my situation! I definitely would never go back there again. Yes I’m brown and olive skin but you treat me like bad because of my skin colour- because you Anna is white from Vietnam- I’m actually brown but I’m from somewhere else that I speak English and I expect a western service! Never again- hate the service if this professional bail Newmarket! I have lots of money to spend but I would never send you again!!!!
