A long weekend in Tāmaki Makaurau and breakfast out is top of the agenda. Day one saw us return to our usual place, but leave disappointed. So day two we were on a mission to find somewhere new. Google was our friend and just a 5 minute walk from Sky City found us at the library. Not because of our high level nerdiness. No, our high level appetites. Honey Cafe has rave reviews and having briefly looked at the menu in advance I was all in. We were cheerfully greeted at the door and asked where we would like to sit. We chose the outside area which is covered but provides good people judging watching to the street. Immediately we were given iced water and menus and asked whether we’d like to order drinks first. After ordering the food we paid at the table which I’m a big fan of. It removed the faffing about or having to queue at the end to pay. The Favourite Husband surprised nobody as per usual with the big breakfast. I, however, was quite adventurous and went with a 4 egg omelette and then selected from a large choice to add bacon, cheese and tomatoes. It is very easy to see why the reviews are scored so highly. Both dishes were outstanding. The big breakkie included the World’s Most Perfect roasted tomato. If roasted tomatoes could win Oscar’s then this was the victor. A little pot of smashed avo, a crispy and fluffy homemade hash brown, all just added to his delight. (The way he was raving on was getting, frankly, embarrassing. God love him.) My omelette was stuffed full of bacon and gooey cheese and had the perfect omelette texture where the eggs were just still slightly runny. It was a delight. One more coffee, complete with swan art, and I thought the Favourite Husband might never leave. We did leave, only to then have him turn around and go back to tell them how fabulous it all was. Not only is the food fantastic but special mention to the staff who are absolute standouts. If I could score 6 * I would. And value for money compared to almost everywhere else is exceptional. I think we just found our new favourite place for our visits to...

I don't know where to start. But honestly, this has been my go to place with my fiance. You get the friendliest hello once you're at the door and thank you when you leave. The food and coffee (plus other beverages they offer) is always consistent. I think that's what most customers after. The staff there are AMAZING 😍 (please leave a tip for them if you have spare change $) because the customer service is beyond excellent. I wasn't paid to give a review but I have been a regular there since the day I discovered this tiny café based in Auckland Library CBD.

Honey Cafe is family friendly and there's a special menu for the little bumble bees 🐝. While waiting for your coffee to go and food you can walk around in the library until they call you that your orders ready.

You're looking at spending upto $25-40 for two people depending on what you order. If it's coffee and something quick from the cabinet it's upto $15-20. Also, if you're ordering to dine-in, do expect the staff to take your order and pay on the spot 😊. If you're ever in Auckland CBD, check out Honey Cafe. They open 7 days a week. Give them a follow on Instagram and you'll see their updates for public holidays there.
