Stayed two nights. Literally right next to the Sky Towel and depending on what side and how high your room is, you can get a really good view of it. They use cards here instead of keys which some of my older friends struggled with at first as you have to scan it to use the lift ect. Room was really tidy and had many complimentary bits including the usual hand and body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hand and body lotion, small vanity kit, sanitary bag, shower cap, many towels, dressing gowns, slippers, kettle, coffee machine, good variety of teas and coffees and milks and sugars, iron, safe, hangers, additional blanket, hair dryer, Bible, sewing kit, and a fridge to store your shopping. I would attach a picture of the room but I was doing this on day 2 and forgot to take pictures prior. There is a large window to the rooms and it takes up over 3/4 of the outside wall so you do get a really good amount of light and view. My room also came with a comfy chair and a writing desk with chair. The television works well in here and I've had no problems of signa. The Wi-Fi worked instantly and you had two ways to sign into this as if one way failed then there's always the other way to enter the Wi-Fi. The charging plugs in the room there are many of, the high majority are normal wall sockets, but there are a few USB chargers as well. Cleaning in the room seems very good apart from the dust in the bathroom vent, but that's not very reachable and it's not visible unless you're really looking and I only noticed as I was looking up from washing my hair in the shower. Staff here seem really pleasant, I spoke very briefly to one of the cleaners, the staff downstairs including restaurant and front desk were very polite and always willing to help whenever I had any queries or needed anything additional. You get some beautiful views from this hotel, but if you're on some of the lower levels then there is a high chance you are just going to be looking at the windows of another multi-story building. This hotel is placed really perfectly and you can easily access so many places from here, the best part is that it literally wasn't 4 minutes walk to the local Woolworths to get some little shopping bits and the hotel has a gift shop on the inside but I've never seen it open so I'm not sure if I'm just timing it wrong or if it's only opened certain days as I've been in and out at all times of the day and not seeing anyone inside of it or the front door open. The bar area is right next to the restaurant which is also where the morning buffet is served. Their breakfast is your typical mixed bag where you have the full English type breakfast items along with cold meats, porridge, mixed fruit oats cut up and whole, pastry and bakery items, cereals and a variety of milks. I will say one thing for the breakfast, I know I only had two breakfasts here but on both occasions the porridge was watery with concealed lumps so I would recommend against this but it might just have been a staff that was on during my stay. Most of the other items that they had were of really good quality and I mostly enjoyed having some boiled eggs with sriracha sauce, crispy onions, roast chicken and a hash brown. They do also serve fruit smoothies. I'm not sure if they changed with the seasons but there were three different ones on offer each morning. This last comment is on no reflection on the hotel and it is nothing that they can control over- there are roadworks being completed out front of the hotel which make it extremely awkward to get into including via car or walking. I've been informed by residents that this has been ongoing for over 3 years and it is still causing much disturbance. I believe when I looked at Google maps that they were all done in 2025 so you can see the road works that are there if you wish to pre-prepare yourself to know what it looks like currently. Overall a lovely hotel and highly...
Read moreIt is not often that I take time out to do reviews but due to my last visit it is definitely warranted and deserving of my time. We normally stay at Boutique & 5 Star hotels around the world and this was our first time back to Crowne Plaza Auckland after 18 months for pleasure and not business this time. As we are use to Valet parking and assistance with our luggage we were quite unsure what to do when we drove up to guest doors and proceeded with our luggage into the entrance of the hotel. On reflection the door men may have been busy with other guests but we could not find anyone. On entering the lobby we were asked immediately for assitance with our bags from the conceirge so that we could check in and he went on to advise us of our self parking options and we thought the price was so reasonable considering other Auckland parking rates. The checkin assistant was very efficient, professional and informed us of all our choices during our stay. As we had booked a club room she advised us of the additional guest payment option if our son who we were meeting for dinner (he attends university in Auckland) if he wanted to join us for predinner drinks and snacks. This was such valuable information otherwise we would not have known this and the additional price was very reasonable. She then went on to advise us that they could arrange a rollaway in the room if need be. Even though we did not need too, I thought this was Fantastic service!!! She gave us an option of harbour view or higher level for the club room choices including free wifi being IHG Members and then gave us a late check out until 2pm. Wonderful! Our Room was a high standard of cleanliness, fresh, pillows and mattress very comfortable. The service in the Club Room was effiecient, attentive and friendly. It was a Friday night and obviously quite busy with the All Blacks in town so there was not enough seating for everyone at one stage with single people taking up tables seat for 4 so smaller tables for couples or singles would be my recommendation so that larger groups will get seating. We had a problem with opening our room safe before we went to the Club Room so the Club Room Waitress tried her best to get someone to open it for us while we were out at dinner. This was not seen to until our call in the morning at checkout to open the safe. This could have been a problem if we needed it earlier but fortunately, we didn't. The Club Room Food was delicious and overall worth the up grade for this service. Situated close to a great selection of restaurants, theatres, bars & entertainment all in walking distance or short taxi ride if in heels. We wanted to try breakfast the next morning in the main dinning area (extra $8 pp) and it was nice with a good selection and choice. The decor in the main lobby area is fresh and interesting, relaxing and inviting. Check out was quick and friendly. Overall a very impressive stay. I was trying to remember why I had taken so long to come back?! The staff have definetly been trained to a higher standard of service then I recall from my last visit/s and for that reason the Value & Service is definetly worth a return and recommendation to all my family & friends. Well Done Crowne...
Read moreGreat location, comfortable stay, very good service. This is the standard Crowne Plaza hospitality you receive across all branches. The best part of this hotel is the location, as it is right in the middle of the City Center and it’s merely a 6 minute walk to any key spot in the city center whether it’s shopping or sight seeing. The rooms are super spacious and equally comfortable. The staff are wonderful people always there to help, and very clear in communication. Parking is paid but at discounted rates, however had to be the tightest parking lot. Overall would highly recommend staying here for your visit to Auckland City. Below is the detailed review:
Location: Very centrally located, the hotel is at a 6 minute walk to either Queens street shopping area or the sky tower. The street currently (January 2025) is under construction yet safe walking and driving passage is provided. Public transportation (bus) is also accessible at a 2 minute walk. You do not need a car if you want to experience Auckland city center and you are staying in this hotel.
Rooms: The rooms are very spacious and have modern furniture and fixtures, comfortable and large bed, soft pillows. Ample lifting and power switches are available, with global switch accepting power outlets as well as USB charging slots. Wall to wall window with very effective black out curtains. A couple of lounge chairs could be added to make the room more seating friendly.
Bathroom: spacious bathroom with modern fittings. All amenities fixed including the shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner in the bathtub, as well as hand wash and moisturizer near the sink. Additional amenities can be requested from staff. The water pressure in the bathtub was really good even at the 27th Floor.
Common Areas: The lobby is nice and has somewhat seating space near the check in desk. The elevators are super modern and u can only access them if you have a key card. Elevators C & D are glass capsules so it’s more scenic to use them. There is a nice large restaurant at the same level. The lobby also has elevator access to the car park, while the floors below have a full fledge shopping mall. It’s also very convenient to access Queens street from there.
Parking: Parking for hotel guests is in the building next to the hotel, yet you easily drive from the hotel driveway into the parking. It’s NZD 35 per day for guests which is really convenient and good price for overnight parking in downtown. The parking lot though is super tight and extremely difficult to drive as well as park. Floors 7 to 10 is where the guests can park and then use the elevator to access the hotel at floor 4.
Staff: Wonderful and super helpful staff all of those with whom I interacted were amazing. They made sure all our needs were catered for. From the front desk to the conceirage to the house keeping, all were very helpful so five stars to...
