Lieutenant Coffee Bar & Eatery — Restaurant in Waitematā

Tourist from Australia: Food tasted good but was exceptionally expensive (this was common across all food in Auckland, but this was by far the most expensive meal I had here) for what it was. I can't remember the name (the google maps menu is outdated) but I had a single piece of sourdough toast with toppings on it. Again, tasty, but pricey (dare I say overpriced). Service was friendly, but wait times were long and atmosphere was bustling and uninviting. My chai latte was 'alright,' but nothing to write home about. It's quite a cute space, but unfortunately just feels cramped with all of the foot traffic. We were going to another cafe for breakfast but have to take cover from the torrential rain. So we stumbled upon Lieutenant.

Probably the most interesting and beautiful omelette I ever had and it did taste good with all the interesting vegetables bits. I had it with the Bacon Soldiers (Just a cute name because the cafe is called Lieutenant I guess?) My partner loved his burger and fries. He loves his coffee so much and ordered a second cup which he seldom do. But the coffee didn’t quite hit the spot for me.

This café was bustling, but we had our orders taken quickly and even found a table in the back. We ordered a croissant with egg and vegetables and a vegetable sandwich. However, when we received the egg and vegetable croissant, the eggs were over-easy, which I didn’t like. It would have been helpful to have some indication on the menu about the egg preparation or an option to customize the eggs to preference.
