My room was both very clean & not dated at all. Great location for the waterfront, shopping, bars, restaurants & a supermarket if one wanted to prepare own meals in the fully equipped kitchenette. Two TVs, one in lounge, one in bedroom. Access to the substantial balcony from both rooms. My room 1406 offered close views of Princes Wharf, great if you are a cruise ship fan & ships are in port as was the case for me three days in a row. The room also contained a separate laundry room with washer & drier. The couch pulls out to a double bed if needed. Reception staff helpful & friendly. Great looking indoor pool & functional gym with views of the harbour & city scape . There was a sauna as well in the same space as the pool & gym. As available parking in the buildings parking complex could be considered steep at $40 per night, but I dont mind paying for convenience & security. Note, parking cant be booked ahead of time. I stayed a Sunday & Monday night & there were plenty of hotel parking spaces available. Photos of the room taken from the balcony.

Wow what a disappointment. Sebel Hotels have let their game down. I can't believe this was $500 per night. Not sure where to start. The entire place is way past a makeover. The rooms were probably lovely around 15 years ago. Not today. Mould in the bathrooms, bathroom cabinets damaged, basins cracked , the door to our balcony didn't lock, the in room safe stuffed up. Lamps in one of the bedrooms didn't work at all, strange smell in the hallway, dirty glasses and plates in kitchen and the shower in the main bathroom was only a dribble. I think I remember these shower heads 25 years ago. I honestly don't understand how this hotel is still in business. The staff were nice but that is the only positive feedback I could give this dump. The best part of our stay was when we arrived back on our second day to find the TV and fridge not working. I can't understand why this place has a 4 star rating, are people comparing it to a cardboard box under a bridge?

We stayed 1 Saturday night on floor 21 in a 1 bedroom apartment. We had a nice view of Auckland harbour bridge and the viaduct from our balcony. From the bedroom the view was off Rangitoto which was just as nice. The apartment was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Both the lounge and bedroom had a tv and access to the balcony. There was a kitchen, a laundry and double wardrobe. Cannot fault the apartment The pool was closed for maintenance during our stay but was advertised as open if booking with pool in mind might pay to check its open before booking. The location was prime for walking to the bars and restaurants in the viaduct. Also easy access to public transport although we chose to Uber. The only downside would be the noise from the streets but you expect that being in the middle of the CBD.

Let me be clear the view, location and SOME of the staff are at least worthy of 3 stars so that's where the good ends.

I checked in and was greeted but a wonderful young woman who I wish I could remember the name of (I believe she was late 20s early 30s & Indonesian?). When she told me my room was ready I headed up, to find the refrigerator in that room was not working. No big deal, head down stairs and switch rooms. From there a calamity of errors flows where each room is worse than the next, moldy floors, doors that don't lock, appliances that are filthy, on and on and on.

Finally I come back down, lucky to find the same woman who greeted me and she goes and finds a manager who assures me they'll have a clean room ready for me asap.

Asap winds up being nearly 5pm and this room is meh at best. I had to use dishwashing soap and powder to clean the walls of the balcony they were so gross but at least inside didn't have stained Lamps, moldy floors or chipped tile. Just a broken couch which at that point I didn't even complain about.

The pool has been out of service for years but they still advertise it, the sauna was off when I was told it was allowed to be used, and the one time housekeeping showed up they walked in unannounced while I was in the shower.

So kudos to that one lady who seemed to genuinely care, but this whole place needs an overhaul. Feels like you're staying in what's mostly an (older) apartment building not a hotel and you can definitely tell given that your view is mostly of newer towers of similar make-up.

If you need a lot of space, and are doing a longer stay or with family etc, it's a great amount of space for value, just know you might have to be a bit of a Karen and demand a new room several times to get anything close to what...

In early December, my Wife & I wanted to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of our first date and our 28th Wedding Anniversary, in the Auckland CBD. We chose the Sebel Quay West to get an apartment with a balcony & view over the Auckland Harbour. We were NOT disappointed! The day before we travelled, I received a phone call from a lovely hotel team member, to check if everything was still on track for our stay and if we needed anything else. Upon arrival, the receptionist was very welcoming and even organised for a special gift in recognition of our celebration, which was delivered to our room! We initially planned to stay for 2 nights and then visit some friends further north but sadly, one of the couple contracted Covid so we asked the receptionist if we could stay in the same room for an extra night...which they happily orgainised for us, at a very reasonable rate AND gave us a late check out! I have to say the service we received was OUTSTANDING! The team at Sebel Quay West went the extra mile as I mistakenly left one of my rings behind, which thankfully was found by a cleaner. A staff member called me while I was driving home to say it had been found & sent an email with a photo of the ring to confirm it was mine. Once I responded to say that it was, they had it couriered to me. Thank you so much to the Sebel Quay West team! We highly recommend anyone looking for an exceptional experience on Auckland's waterfront, to choose the...

Location downtown was great. Central to everything. Parking was better than some of our hotels on this trip, though very expensive at $40 NZD per day. Probably typical rate IDK for downtown. Rooms were large though very dated, and had a huge patio with 2 uncomfortable chairs. The room cleaning staff was awesome (the front desk staff - 3 people we interacted with - were not so much and pretty unhelpful each and every time there was a hotel problem which was under their control).

Disliked · The pool was closed for maintenance. The pool was the main reason for booking this place as we were with family who booked other rooms, and the kids wanted to swim! The front desk said so sorry, but refused to offer any compensation to us the grandparents (The kids got a late checkout---whoopie). They were pretty rude about it really. Our first room had a broken AC. It was 85 Celsius in the room and they sent maintenance to fix 2 hours after our complaint, but he was unable to fix. They actually asked us if we would stay in the room??? We finally moved to a new room hours later, no upgrade for the inconvenience of re-packing etc, but the AC worked (newer...
