Spark Commercial Bay - A Tale of Two Employees
My recent visit to Spark Commercial Bay was an incredibly mixed experience, highlighting a stark contrast in customer service. It's important to note upfront that my issue stemmed from a 'SpaceTalk' watch purchased at the store, for my son. Spark is not responsible for this product, but I sought their assistance with a complex technical problem.
Upon entering, we were initially attended by an employee I'll refer to as MP ('Mr. Philippines'). Unfortunately, MP provided the worst customer service I've experienced in my many years as a loyal Spark customer. He was dismissive, displayed a clear lack of interest in helping, and projected an extremely unpleasant attitude. His demeanor was the epitome of someone who did not want to be there. My 10-year-old son even remarked on our walk home, 'You know mom, the only reason that guy has a job is because he is paid to solve someone else's problem, but unfortunately he was so dismissive and his attitude was so bad, we should never go back.' This comment, from a child, speaks volumes about the level of MP's service.
The initial employee, MP, had to call for assistance, and that's when 'Mr. E' stepped in. Within seconds, Mr. E identified the necessary steps, clearly illustrating MP's lack of knowledge or willingness to help. Mr. E immediately understood the situation and our frustration. MP, on the other hand, displayed a consistent attitude of disinterest and dismissal.
Despite my initial disappointment, and after explaining to my son that sometimes people have bad days, we decided to return and wait specifically for Mr. E. We were determined to be served by someone who genuinely cared. Fortunately, Mr. E, though busy, graciously agreed to assist us. We waited patiently, and our patience was rewarded with exceptional service. Mr. E was attentive, listened carefully to our concerns, and demonstrated genuine empathy for our situation. He was able to clearly explain the situation and steps to be taken, even though the watch was not a Spark product.
While I understand that MP may have been having an off day, his behavior was unacceptable and created a very negative experience. Mr. E, on the other hand, was a shining example of excellent customer service, and his professionalism and empathy were greatly appreciated. The difference between these two employees was night and day.
I hope Spark management takes note of this stark contrast in service. While I am grateful for Mr. E's assistance, MP's behavior has significantly impacted my perception of Spark Commercial Bay. I strongly recommend that Spark provides additional customer service training to ensure a more consistent and positive experience for all customers. as well as recognise that Mr. E deserves recognition for his...
Read moreWent to upgrade my phone yesterday and the staff made what is meant to be an exciting purchase stressful and difficult. Delt with Rommy who has the worst customer service I have ever come across. The promo price advertised on your website for an iPhone 15 plus 256gb is 37.50 per month on a 36 month plan. When I went into store she said they cannot honour that and it is $41 a month and that is an "online price" as per the sales assistant (which was a lie as they ended up honouring it). Once I broke it down for them they said that is in fact correct and it is the 37.50 advertised. They made me feel like I was ripping them off by showing them the price on the website and asking why it is different in store. Once my details were loaded on the app account, my repayments were showing as $54.17 a month which is the full price. I went back to the store to query and ask for something in writing to say it will be $37.50 a month as per your website and the sales assistant said "no" and to trust him and wait for the bill to come through which I don't think is right. I have emailed you guys regarding this and would like a response. I have been dealing with Rommy who was very rude and dismissive. I would give 0 stars if I could for the stress and unprofessional behaviour of the staff. She provided false information to me in saying this is an online only price which is a huge breach of the consumer guarantees act. It is a shame as I have always had very good service from there, but Rommy had the worst attitude I have come across and was very pushy and dismissive which is disgusting. I have emailed the spark complaints department about her so hopefully this feedback...
Read moreHi, I bought the iPhone 15 pro 2 or 3 weeks ago, with the accessories that the phone needed. The guy who attended us was very nice, but he offered me a discount for the AirPods that is not reflected in my bill and when I went to the time to ask about this mistake, another girl attended me and said that the mistake was mine. I wasn't planning to buy the AirPods!!!! But since he offered me a discount for buying the phone that day, I bought it. But now I see that I have been totally ripped off.
Also, in the accessories, the supposed portable battery doesn't charge unless it's plugged in... what kind of service is this?
I am currently travelling and will not be back in Auckland until August. I also mentioned this to the salesperson that day, as I wanted a mobile phone with good picture quality for my trip, so I can't go to the shop to solve this. I tried to leave a record in the app, via chat, so that they don't say I damaged the portable battery, but I can't find the chat messages anymore. I will leave a record here and I would love the guy who attended me to contact me to clarify the supposed discount that I now do not have.
I am very displeased with the service of this shop, apart from feeling cheated with their...
