Firstly: Mums, do not come here. There is NO CHANGING TABLE in the bathroom. I had to change my baby on the floor - gross.
Secondly: there are a few very kind people who work here including the chef, who is totally lovely. But on the whole, the service is horrible - nasty people who try to hide their rudeness behind the yoga health vibe.
A couple weeks ago, we came in for lunch. Not many free seats, but an ideal spot on the end of a big table with plenty of space for our pram. The server actually told me that we couldn't sit there because some crazy old ladies who were on the other side of this huge table didn't want anyone else there?! Because of Covid.. so you'll turn away paying customers because others would rather keep those spots empty?? Meagan May, do you realize this is happening?? The staff are regularly aggressive and hostile. One server told me - without any promoting - when I was a few weeks away from giving birth, that she didn't like babies. (Fun!) I've accepted the fact that my husband is a way nicer person than I am, so I usually nag him into doing the ordering and all communication with these people, as I'm more likely to lose it. But even he came away today saying, "I think these people just really don't like us!"
Thirdly: the food is incredible. We go here too much for the food.. it's this vicious cycle of hating the staff and experience, vowing never to go back, and then getting the most delicious food. But how can you enjoy it when you are so angry at the way you've been...
Read moreA friend and I visited Little Bird last week and we’re appalled at the service. My friend is a woman of colour and we both noticed the dismissive and micro aggressive attitude of the one waitress towards us. From waiting 15 mins for our order to be taken after 2 attempts to get her attention. After the first, she acknowledged us but then went over to another table who had just sat down and then disappeared. 5 mins later when we got her attention again, she flat out ignored us. The other waitress eventually took our order. When my friend went to the counter to get her cake, the same waitress couldn’t look her in the eye and was abrupt with her. When my food arrived from the kitchen, she stretched over the table completely blocking my friend as if she wasn’t there and struggled to put the plate in front of me. I put hands out to help her and she dropped the plate in my hands. It was incredibly unprofessional. There could be a multitude of reasons why she behaved this way- maybe she was new, the restaurant was busy, she was having a bad day. But the fact that my friend and I both noticed her dismissive and strange behaviour is something that is important. I know the restaurant industry is stretched for staff at the moment but please take care in screening staff for how they deal with ppl from different walks of life, especially in high stress...
Read moreI went into little bird hoping to grab some lunch, but walking into the place was like walking into a high school of mean girls as the new kid. The Maitre d just stared at us as we walked in, didn't greet us and wasn't friendly at all so I mistook her for a customer waiting for us to walk up the stairs so she could leave. When I was looking at the drinks a dark haired waitress bumped into me (which happens, its no big deal) but then immediately went to the maitre d to start gossiping. I asked to see a menu and dismissed the talking to be about something else until the worker went to a person sitting on the table and kept talking and gossiping quietly while staring at us the entire time. The person on the table would not take their eyes off of us which was extremely uncomfortable and just overall weird. Really disappointed as I was excited to try out the food, but was made to feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome that we just left straight away. The atmosphere felt very pretentious, rude and the lack of customer service and social skills were astounding. I will not be returning, as well as spreading the word to my circle so that they can avoid the...
