South American Oven — Restaurant in Waitematā

The restaurant is one of the many in the Harbour Eats food court in the commercial Bay building. They serve a range of different empanadas and have a fairly large selection of vegetarian and meat-filled empanadas. There was a counter upfront with all the flavours they have to offer. I was sharing some with a friend so we grabbed the 3 empanadas for $16 and he gave us a sample of all the three sauces that they had. I quite liked the lamb and vegetable one. Nice bits of lamb in thin, tasty pastry. The mushroom, spinach and feta one was also quite tasty. The leek, bacon and cheese one was ok. We also got a card to remind us of the fillings of the empanadas. All the sauces were not spicy but the pico de gallo had a bit of tartness to it. The nice pastry filled treats are a good option for food...

Decided to try their signature slow cooked beef brisket ‘Argentino’ for lunch.

Ordering was nice and easy on the touch screen, food is coming out pretty quickly and it’s all going wonderfully well.

Order ‘dine-in’ as we’re in a food court, food comes out fairly quickly, sit down and it’s just waaay to oily / fatty, and all the flavours are lost.

The bun is lightly toasted to perfection, but the bite just doesn’t deliver the expected payoff 😢

They do a wide range of Empanadas - with a lunch discount when ordered a pair, so maybe that’s the better alternative if you decide to go there.

Would definitely not recommend this option, but they have lots of other items that could be winners, so I’m not going to suggest this one visit is sufficient to judge...

This place is located at the Food Court. Level 2 in the shopping mall.

Unfortunately and disappointed, it does not indicate the address.

Due to being in the Food Court and limited seats.

Decided to only purchase one item. Then locate another spot, preference to a restaurant for late late lunch.

Empanadas. Ham n Cheese. NZ8/-. The filling of the ham and cheese are all mesh. It tastes ok for a quick snack.

Orders are done via machine. Cash n card...
