This is a quaint little pub in the heart of Wellington. We parked down by the water front but you could find a park closer if you know the city better. We booked for lunch and the place was pretty quiet but we were served by a young lady who said if we didn't like the table we could sit anywhere. We ordered drinks and while we knew what we were going to order, perused then. It was Wellington on a plate month so it would be rude not to try the Schnitzel Von Crumb burger. Liked the Beverly Cleary reference. We asked how big the burger was and our waitress said it is a struggle to get through. Luckily they allow sharing so the girls shared there's while I gobbled down a whole one. We ordered a basket of fries to share. The burgers were delicious. Very crisp Crumb on the chicken schnitzel. Served with both a gravy and a cheesy white sauce that complimented the filling perfectly. Would happily visit again as the food...
Read moreI like this irish pub for the blues nights they have - it's part of the capital blues club I believe. Downstairs is a sports bar with EVERYTHING on (screens upstairs too). It's not your typical trippie Wellington spot which is refreshing. I once had a mean barlady a few years ago, but since then, staff have been really nice. I ate food here a few times. Bar snacks are what bar snacks should be. The burger and chips were yummy, but the caesar salad was maybe not the best choice to order from a sports bar - there was just nothing to it. In saying that, the chicken in it was perfectly cooked. The menus could have done with a wipe but in general the place (upstairs) looked cleaner than most of Wellington's spots. No smoking spot inside and you have to go all the way outside for that. I know it's a NZ thing but while it's legal to smoke, I'm...
Read moreBeen coming here for years to enjoy the Tuesday quiz and the atmosphere has always been fun. The staff are super friendly but often make silly mistakes, I see this place as a good place to get a drop and have never minded and they’re always quick to make amends. Recent changes to the menu don’t fit with the bar and there isn’t a crumb of value for money in sight. The new food doesn’t really taste that good, I had the chicken burger last week and it was dry and the portion size was tiny, got a portion of fries to tide me over this week and they were unsalted and undercooked. Bad decision to make changes as the food used to be pretty good. Our group has started thinking about finding somewhere new to quiz on tuesdays. Would not recommend coming here if you’re...
