So we have finished with the tour to Miramar studio - in case you do not know, it's where all the CGI and special effects for LOTR were made. This is where Peter Jackson made the successful trilogy using New Zealand as base for the movie. Sean picked me up and we proceed to downtown where we went to visit his showroom and then walked to Te Papa museum. Everyone had a great time and by the time we finished with the museum tour, we walked over to this Mac's Brew Bar.. a popular craft beer place in Wellington. It's located in a very big brick building facing the waterfront. As the weather was windy and cold, we could not sit outside to enjoy the scenery. ◾Mac's craft beer - tasting set served paddle style, I love how different taste of each of the beer was. If I had the capacity I would like to try all.. but 4 glasses were already a bit too much for me. ◾chicken nibbles - essential chicken wings in either spicy buffalo style, chipotle BBQ sauce or honey mustard mayo. I took the latter because the small ones could easy eat it. ◾salt & pepper squid - lightly battered and deep fried to perfection! Served with nam jim dipping sauce & lemon, honey, mustard emulsion. ◾seafood chowder - whole pot of tummy warming goodness filled with smoked mussels, fresh fish & shrimp. Served with chilly corn bread which was perfect in the cold weather. Spacious joint on the waterfront offering a wide range of beers, pub grub & a popular patio. I had a great chat with Sean, as he has been a dear friend of mine for more than 20 years since college.

Awesome service. We were a large group, and the staff were very accommodating to get us a big enough table. The food was delicious - we could only order from the snack menu, as the restuatant kitchen was closed...but I would definitely recommend the ribs, chicken wings and fries. The fries come with a great sauce which is AMAZING tantalizing the taste buds. Great ciders are available - and the kids can even order a fluff. The atmosphere is great and just makes you want to stay a little longer. For the sport lovers - there are big screen TVs so that you can easily catch up on the sport of the day. All around a great place to be!

Shed 22 offers an impressive take on classic fish and chips, although the fish portion was on the smaller side. The batter was light and crispy, and the fish itself was cooked to perfection — moist and tender inside, with just the right amount of golden crunch on the outside. The chips were equally impressive, seasoned expertly to bring out a satisfying, savoury flavour. The accompanying coleslaw added a refreshing tang, and the minted pea mash provided a unique balance that complemented the dish without overpowering it. The highlight, however, was the sticky toffee pudding. It was everything you’d hope for in a dessert and more — light yet satisfyingly dense, moist, and with a deep, rich sweetness. Each bite felt indulgent, making it the perfect finish to a well-rounded meal. Shed 22 truly elevates the fish and chip experience, with an attention to detail that makes every dish memorable. Unfortunately, the hot chocolate fell a bit short of expectations. It had a somewhat watery taste, lacking the rich, creamy texture and depth of flavour you’d hope for in a good hot chocolate. With a bit more attention to this beverage, Shed 22 could create a warmer, more satisfying experience to match the high standard of its food. Overall, Shed 22 impresses with its quality and flair for flavours, making it a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy a classic meal done exceptionally well, even if the fish portion could be a bit more generous.

We ordered for two people after a long day of not eating much. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The first dish was a chicken burger with fries. The fries were cold and were served without stated sauces and the burger tasted burned and dry . The salad was delayed so after a few minutes I started eating my dish before it gets any colder. The waitress came two more times to ask what ingredients could be on the salad it seemed like they didn’t knew how to do a salad (no shame to the waitress she was really nice and tried her best that’s why the service received two stars). After a while we received extra fries for the long delay of the salad. After I finished my burger while trying to eat really slow the salad finally arrived. It was just plain lettuce with 2 tiny bread cubes and one egg and mayonnaise on the side to dip in. Wouldn’t come here again not worth it to pay 30 dollars for a salad like this. But the location is nice

Lucky I didn't give this place just one star...it is lucky it's staff are friendly and do give good service otherwise I would have. Came in today for a quick bite and some beers. Beer was good, but the fish and chips came so quickly and it was burnt that it must have been sitting under the hotline for a while, this showing it had been cooked a while ago. It tasted terrible, and the chips and coleslaw too. Normally I'd say something but can't be bothered today as just want to enjoy the day. Apart from that would recommend come for a drink as atmosphere is pretty good and can catch the sun outside. But forget the fish and chips....hopefully the other food is better. P.S. I demoted it to two star on second thoughts and I'm so unhappy with the food I'm writing it here in the bar. Not often I write there and then.

The menu said there was sour cream available but we were told that it was all mixed with chilli sauce. The menu did not mention this. I ordered Korean Chicken Tacos which were smothered in Chilli sauce. It was nice, but would have been good to know when ordering as this was not mentioned on the menu. One of the kids ordered a strawberry sundae. This came out with a blackberry compote. When I pointed this out the waitress stridently told me it WAS strawberry. This was duly replaced with strawberry sauce appropriate for a kids sundae which was slammed on the table by the waitress who simply turned on heel and strode off. What a rock show. Don't bother. We should have walked ten mins down the waterfront to @thecrabshack.
