The bar seems to be a cool place but I’ve never was impressed with a service there. I love that they have a nice outside spot on the grass where you can relax on a sunny day and so that I’ve given my one star. I was refraining from leaving a negative comment but my recent visit forced me to do so. I recently visited this ace with my friends. I wanted to have gin&tonic. The server who came to take an order was unable to provide me with a list of gin they currently have saying « we have many ». Well, I’ve given an order and my drink had arrived. I’ve tasted it and it seemed little hit strong for a single. I thought bartend must have been generous. When I went to pay for a drink I was told it is $14. I thought … hm… quiet expensive for a single and asked for a receipt. On the receipt I found out that i was charged for a double. However, I had never asked for a double. Servers should never assume that every drink a guest orders must have come in a double unless it has been specifically told by a guest. It should have been never assumed that way ! I am now concerned how do they serve other drinks especially for youngsters who just reached their adult age of ordering a drink. This is alarming. Anyways, I hope this place will maybe have a conversation with servers as assuming that a guest wants a double every time placing a drink it is not the way doing a business. That is a way...

There is no point in having decent food with dismal substandard customer service is there? It was honestly an upsetting experience here. After having arrived at the bar is took a few prompts to get the attention of the bartender/waitress while awkwardly standing twiddling our thumbs repeatedly asking questions about food orders and seating. Her reception of us wasn't warm or neutral even. We had to even pick up and serve ourselves the food from the counter as it was getting cold from just sitting on the counter. How odd for a customer to go get their own food unless it's a self-service restaurant. 5 mins later we see the chef serving food to the table next to us while we had to go get ours. I am unsure if this was done on purpose because there was an immediate dislike of us on sight or maybe YOU SEE BROWN YOU FROWN? I do not know, tell me why are your staff unfriendly and unwelcoming? The food was alright, we only had the curly fries and wings. Cx service -1, food 3. That gives you a...

This time we had the Rogue Chicken Burger ($17) and the OG Beef Burger ($17) along with a portion of the curly fries ($4). For the beer, we shared a Bitterbitch IPA ($13) as there was no double IPA available. The total bill came up to $51.

The beef from the OG Beef Burger had the flavourful and aromatic “beefy” taste that we love. The patty itself was also tender, indicative of a good control of the heat. A simple but good burger.

As for the Rogue Chicken Burger, there was a nice salad within that helped balanced the burger. What stood out for us were the onions which was so sweet and crunchy! Lastly, we were thankful that we ordered only a portion of the curly fries because the portion was HUGE. There was a nice cajun seasoning and it came with an aioli dip as well. By doing the $4 add-on, this option is much cheaper than the $14 sides if you had ordered it by itself.

What a fabulous little place. Away from the madness of Courtney Place, this cool and quirky little bar has the best live music around on Friday and Saturday evenings (cover charged on Saturdays) and is more popular with the locals. With a great selection of craft beer, wines and cocktails and great food and popular special offers, this is my favourite night time venue in Wellington by far!

An excellent pub for music and craft ales, especially on hot summer evenings when the park out front serves as an extension to the already spacious bar. Pizzas are excellent as are the beers. Music is served well by the owner’s attention to detail in setting up the stage acoustics, PA and sound board. There is lots of jazz here, plus talented bands that represent a range of genres.
