We were regular patrons to this restaurant. However, this afternoon the female staff who circulated siomay and other steam meats refused to serve us. She passed by our table without offering the food to us, and she did it twice. So we knew that she did it deliberately. We had been waiting for more than 15 minutes with no food offered to us. So I decided to talk to the cashier to ask to talk to the duty manager or the owner of this restaurant, but she refused and asked me to go back to our table and wait to be served, which was unacceptable. The staff who deliberately refused to serve us today was the one we complained to the other staff because she deliberately refused to serve us food several weeks ago. So, we know that she held a grudge against us. It seems that the staff at this restaurant can treat the customers at will. You have lost regular customers and we will share this experience to our family and friends.
Response to the owner's comment below: it was not as busy as usual and she passed by my table twice. She looked at me while serving customers next to my table and then she just passed by me quickly. It was Obvious she did it...
Read moreThis is what I call personally describe as a 'Cantonese style' of Chinese restaurant. It's probably more accurately described as a HK style or Guangzhou style? Not sure exactly.
We went here for a family dinner. A relative shouted us for New Years and bought a nice range of dishes. We had about 8 - 12 dishes I think and they were all prettty good. Like similar restaurants, they have a soup as an appetiser, and a sweet soup to end for dessert.
Probably because I've grown up with this kind of food so I know some of the dishes weren't the best I've tried (ie. Not the freshest produce or they used frozen fish instead of fresh or even that the sweet red bean soup didn't have a very smooth texture) but they still passed lol.
Parking was a few minutes walk away at the big New Lynn outdoor carpark, free and no limit on time after 6pm. (I'm not sure if it usually incurs a fee before 6pm but there is definitely a time limit 7 days/week).
I've been here for yumcha before and that...
Read moreWe’d not had yum cha here before so thought we’d give it a go. Food was variable but got better as we went along. The char siu bar were okay, the char siu was particularly nice but the bun itself seemed to have been sitting for a while and was quite dry. Har gau was similar, they were only just warm and the outer was somewhat dry and seemed a bit mass produced. However from there on things got better. The lo mai gai was nice and fresh with nicely sticky rice and a decent amount of meat; good flavour. Siu mai was probably the highlight and some of the best I’ve had in a long time, big pieces of prawn mixed in and really fresh and juicy. We had custard tarts to finish and they were very good. Some staff were friendly, others a more typical (for a yum cha restaurant) impatient with my fragmented Cantonese. All in all was probably a 3.5 but I’ve rounded up to 4 as it was a weekday and I suspect a busy weekend the dishes would’ve been fresher and better. Price was...
