Absolutely terrible. The wrap had a tiny bit of chicken in it, it was mostly wrap and nothing else. The taco was small and mostly filled with inexpensive lettuce, ate it in 2 bites. The fries were a small serving with horrible cheese powder on it. And the cinamon bites were horrible, all that worthless food cost $12.99 then I had a power dish which consisted of a miserable amount of rice with some indescribable other food mixed in with it for $9.99. The total cost of the food I estimated was only $3-$4 and they charged me $23. They give you this large paper bag in which you think you are going to get lots of food, until you look down into it and see hardly anything at all. Completely terrible value for money for such pity full amount of bland and small tasting food. I would STRONGLY urge anyone NOT to even try Taco Bell in NZ, its extremely hyped up and not worth you stepping in the door for such a miserable and bland tasting amount of what they claim to be food. Avoid at all costs. The only benefit of trying Taco Bell in New Lynn was to teach me a lesson to never return to the place ever again. You will leave hungry and wondering what your money actually paid for and probably go looking for something to eat somewhere else because you will not be satisfied. By the way I am not exaggerating this review one bit. And Taco Bell, if you are reading this, I do not want a replacement of food, it would be pointless because I do not want to eat there ever...
Read moreIt's just not Taco Bell. No one goes to Taco Bell in the US for fancy, authentic Mexican food. People go to Taco Bell for a cheap meat monstrosity or a large number of cheap tacos.
By pretending to be fancy (which it absolutely is not), they've put themselves in competition with Mexicali and Mexico and a few others. Hot take: that was a terrible plan. For slightly more you can get much better food elsewhere, most of which is authentic and in better portions.
Redeeming features: the chicken is pretty good, cinnamon curls remain delicious and somehow reasonably priced (I guess they're hard to get wrong), unlimited coke when the machine is working (or not fully gross).
I think I'd be much more inclined to like this Taco Bell if it did anything that makes it good in the US. I'm talking the 12 taco combos from the US, not hiding the soft tacos (which is really the heart of Taco Bell), tone down the sour cream a bit, bring in a couple of the more ridiculous American menu items, and stop pretending you're fancy. Mexicali has us covered on fancy Mexican food, and you're never...
Read moreSelection was definitely small compared to the US. Very similar flavor, but didn’t seem as big/stuffed. They added a Mexico sort, ring the bell if you like our service, and employees say “Woo!”...it got old and annoying. Always hated that sort of thing. Would hate to work there for that reason. I’m sure it drives the workers crazy. Nice they had ordering kiosks. It was pretty busy when I was there, but still got my food in about maybe 7mins., so that was good. Happy they had a digital soda machine, but the cup was small...could go back and get a refill with no problem though I guess. They also had a slushy (frozen drink) machine, so that was cool. $12 something for the meal I got...but it’s NZ, so it figures. Mexican fries were interesting. Would have been nice with Heinz Ketchup. Customers were a bit messy with frozen drinks and sauces or whatever, but a kid made a round and cleaned up.
Someone mentioned self cleanup (taking your tray and throwing out the leftover food and trash)...THAT’S NORMAL FOR FAST FOOD...
