Came here for a date with my wife using first table. Food was delish, we just ordered too much for our small appetites but was worth it as we left with full tummies and big smiles. Arrived and greeted by a friendly waitress who seated us at table. Ambience and lighting is soft and decor rustic, the time we came in the afternoon was great as not too busy and quiet so still able talk and chat without too much noise. Note when you use first table they do have some rules; some menu items you can’t order, can’t be seated at the booths and can’t take leftovers. Once seated I ordered drinks and she served us a flask of complimentary water. We ordered pork bao buns, korean chicken wings and wedges. The bao buns were devine; crispy pork and fresh salad and mayo dressing. At that point after a few wedges we were pretty much done as the portions are quite large. But we still had the chicken wings to try so we had about 1 each and wow crispy and spicy 😍 best combo, unfortunately we just didn’t have the appetite to give it justice. If we came in a group setting and did share plates, we probably would have been able to try more dishes and not get so full so fast. Definitely a must try if you’re in New Lynn. Food, service and venue is onnn!

The place has a really nice look and a great vibe. Unfortunately the service wasn’t good, the waiter wasn’t friendly and dropped our cutlery heavily on the table. The food came out at different times, we got two mains then our share platter then the following three mains. I ordered my steak medium rare but it came out very well done. There was no staff checking our meals even after trying to get their attention. We waited nearly 30 minutes before we got a staff members attention trying to order desert. Then our waiter parked a shopping trolley full of recycling and garbage in the restaurant while we waited for our deserts. Again they unfortunately came out at different speeds as 3 of the five of us were finished before the others received their desert. The cheesecake I ordered came out with a great sauce but was frozen solid. I had to let the staff know as it was inedible and they just replied “ok algood.” When asked about my meal when paying I explained the situation and got the response “sorry to hear that”. Hopefully the experience isn’t standard as the place shows great potential.

This was my first time coming here and honestly I really enjoyed the food and drinks!! The atmosphere of this restaurant is really calming and their aesthetic and set up is really nice! I drank the passion mango mocktail (yellow one) and it was 9/10. Not too sweet but just the right amount and was super refreshing to drink. The pink drink was Strawberry Citrus. I would rate this a 7/10. Next was the spicy chicken wings those were a 10/10 had a great kick of spice but enjoyed them. Then we have the fried chicken in bao bun. I enjoyed these with all my heart 😍 the chicken was perfectly cooked and great size with 4 on a plate. Lastly we have the fried prawn in the bao buns. These were also really nice. I think it was coated in the same thing as the fried chicken. Comes with 4 as well. It is super filling too. Overall its worth the price and is definitely affordable for the amount you get! The food came really fast and this was around lunch time hours 11am-12pm. I would highly recommend and definitely come back here to try more delicious food off their menu 😍

Dined at Kage Brickworks along with a friend on Monday, 14 August. We were at the restaurant around 7 pm. We placed our order and once the food got to us we began to eat. Around 8 pm, while we were still eating, a waiter came up to our table and asked if he could clear our dishes. This is all while were still eating and had food left in every single dish we ordered except for one. So we politely told him he could take the empty dish away but we were still eating our dinner. A few minutes later, a waitress came up to our table and told us the restaurant has closed. We were confused as the restaurant's timing stated it was open till 9 (we double checked on google). We hurriedly tried to eat our food, while both waiters stared at us making the whole experience very uncomfortable and unenjoyable. We then proceeded to pay (around 8.10, so very shortly after both waiters approached us cause that's how rushed we felt). While paying, I mentioned to the waitress that the timings of the restaurants stated they were open till 9. She responded by saying, 'because it wasn't a busy night they decided to close early'. It's one thing not to let new customers in because youve decided to close a whole hour earlier, but to get rid of paying customers trying to enjoy their dinner is completely unacceptable. We felt rushed and more over kicked out of the restaurant because the staff felt like they wanted to head off for the night. We were totally shocked by this experience and service. We emailed the restaurant about what had happened but have had no response to date. Can't say I'll be rushing back anytime soon! Your staff need a training lesson in common courtesy...

I booked a table through First Table and was really looking forward to trying this restaurant, but unfortunately the experience was very disappointing.

When we arrived, we were seated at a table but told we couldn’t sit on the couch table. That was fine and understandable. However, things went downhill from there. My friend and I ordered the calamari, which was terrible chewy and with a very odd-tasting coating. We asked for just a slice of lemon to help with the taste, only to later find out that they charged $1 for a single slice of lemon.

Next, the burger and chips arrived with no dipping sauce. We had to ask for some sauce to go with the chips, and again, they didn’t tell us this would be an extra charge ($1.50). Nowhere in New Zealand have I seen burgers served without at least a basic sauce included.

To make things worse, I wasn’t shown the bill at the counter. The person at the till (who I believe was the owner) didn’t smile, didn’t greet, and didn’t even tell me the amount I was paying. Only when I checked the receipt later at home did I notice these extra charges.

Here’s the thing the charges themselves don’t bother me, but they should have been clearly specified upfront. The lack of transparency made the whole experience feel unfair and unwelcoming.

Overall, this was a very sad experience. The food was poor, the service was cold, and the hidden charges were disappointing. Please be cautious if you visit always ask in advance about charges, because even a single slice of lemon...

Has to be the worst restaurant / cafe in all of Auckland. What a disgrace to poor Brickworks... Came in for breakfast yesterday, thinking "Oh this looks good, it looks yum and good signage". Everything was proven wrong. It was quiet, there was 5 other tables with people however, only 3 of them had food. The other two were being waited on by the two asian men staff (understandable). We came in and waited for a staff member to give us menus and show us to a table. We gave them the benefit of the doubt but were standing for 5 minutes until the CHEF came out of the kitchen to give us a table. One of the staff had come back by this point and didn't greet us, just ran right past us and put in the menu for the other table...

We were sitting down for another 10 minutes and no one came to serve us. The shorter male was "busy" putting in the menus for the other tables into the computer and the other man with glasses was making drinks. Then BOTH of them went to wait on just ONE table. At this point, I was confused because why did both of them need to serve one table? What about my table and our order? We flagged the short asian man down and he rudely put up his hand saying "Wait". Well that's all we had been doing up to that point... We waited for another 5 minutes and watched as a larger group of people came in. And guess what, the same guy who told us to wait went and served THEM!?

Walked STRAIGHT out after that. What a horrible experience. Terrible staff and rude...
