Excellent experience. Friendly staff, Great food (I ordered veggie Samosa and chicken byriani). Also good atmosphere and reasonable prices. Loved it
Edit: I am changing my review to a one star based on “three visits” experience. Apparently it is all about how friendly and welcoming is the host. The first 5-stars rating was mostly because of one male waiter who had a permanent smile on his face and an amazing welcoming attitude. This is the secret to a successful catering business people, maybe more than good food!! The other two visits we have been served by a rude woman who just kept straight face with obvious signs of boredom and/or anger!! I was with my wife and we entered the restaurant while its almost empty but she insist the we cant choose a table because they are “reserved” and she put us on a small table beside the entrance which was annoying. My wife didn’t like the table so I asked the waitress if we can go upstairs where they have extra room. She replied positive rudely! And took us upstairs to a table that was also in front of the stairs while the space was empty!! We didn’t like that either and decided to leave. When we told her that we are leaving she said that we can set on any table we want !!!!! What about the “reservations” ?!! I, as a customer, don’t care at all if you are busy or stressed from life problems or even if you are in a bad mood!! I pay MONEY $$$ for this food and service, and you are supposed to match the value of the 40+$ byriani or whatever expensive food you have! You are not giving it to me for free!! (I said reasonable price in the first review based on relative comparison with prices in Bergen overall)
Conclusion: NOT recommended and won’t go again there. I would rather recommend the Indian restaurant on Marken street. They have better food and service. And they are cheaper (by half the price on...
Read moreEating out with your loved ones, is supposed to be a cherished experience. At this place, you will have staff that cant communicate properly, have language barriers.
I have had two fairly crappy experiences there. The first one, was a birthday party. The waitor did not speak Norwegian or English at all. We got wrong dishes served and didnt notice before we started eating. I had to pay for what I ordered, even though someone else got it. (I ordered one of the more expensive and spiced dishes, but ended up with a more boring/cheap dish).
Also they didnt offer refill of drinks, just walked around with tunnel vision.
The next trip I had there, was with my girfriend. We ordered food and drinks for about 6-700 NOK (about 100$). She told the waitor that she is intolerant to spicy food. The waitor recommended a dish.
I on the other hand, ordered the spicy dish that said in the menu it was very spicy. It was in deed spicy, yet my girfriends dish was even spicyer! It was inedible!
We called the waitor over and said politely that her dish was too spicy. The waitor immidiatly got defensive and said that they didnt spice it. Then she ran off to the kitchen and came back, where she said once again that they hadent spiced it, but that the marinade was very spicy.
So of course this is a fault by them, yet she would not admit to it. We then had to buy some sort of mild sauce for another 30-40NOK. The service was utterly terrible, they...
Read moreI cannot comment on the food...because we didn’t stay long enough to eat! We came on a busy Saturday night, and a woman (manager? not sure.) looked at us with an icy glare as we entered, and then said in an unfriendly tone, “Yes?”. Had a bad feeling, should have left then. But instead, we said, table for two. She asked us to give her 10 minutes. As she was seating us, my Indian friend asked her an innocuous question, if they were not seating people on the lower level of the restaurant. Her terse response: “This is the only table we have.” She then walked away from us quickly. We sat for a few minutes, ignored by the waiters. We then watched two more tables for two being seated near us—well AFTER we were there—yet, they were immediately met by waiters with friendly greetings and glasses of water. We decided to leave at that point. On the way out, I angrily told the woman what happened and that we were leaving. Her response: “Suit yourself”. This woman was one of the rudest and most unfriendly restaurant staff I’ve ever encountered. We then went to the wonderful Nama across the street, where we were greeted in a welcoming manner by the very friendly staff, and provided with attentive, courteous service...even without a reservation on a busy Saturday! Maharaja could learn a lot from Nama on how customers...
