I am not a Norwegian, but a Sri Lankan and during my short stay in bergen I had the most wonderful time at this little cafe. Firstly, the staff are the sweestest, absolutely friendly, calm and polite. Secondly, the coffee is delicious, it has a delicate hint of everything. The surrounding is beautiful too, it looks like something that came out of a movie. Lastly, I just want to appreciate the carrot cake. I never liked carrot + cake but this cake is something else. This slice of carrot cake is absolutely delightful. The cake itself is incredibly moist and soft, with just the right balance of sweetness and spice—it truly melts in your mouth. The cream on top has a subtle lemony hint that adds a refreshing twist and complements the rich flavours perfectly. Every bite feels like a comforting treat, making it one of the best carrot cakes I've ever had. I am going to miss everything about this place. I love this place, i hope it never loses its beautiful uniqueness. I recommend people to go and enjoy your time there. It is just...
Read moreMy sister and I visited Det Lille Kaffekompaniet after reading that the café—or at least the building it’s in—has been around for over 200 years! That alone gave it such a charming, historic feel. It’s a tiny little gem tucked away in Bergen, and although the inside seating was full, we sat outside and actually loved the cozy atmosphere with the fresh air.
We ordered a slice of their carrot cake topped with a creamy frosting that had a hint of lemon in it—absolutely delicious! Moist, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The highlight for my sister was the flat white, which was recommended by the super friendly barista. She loved it! You could really taste the quality of the coffee, and the milk was steamed just right.
Even though it’s a small space, the staff made it feel warm and welcoming. It’s the kind of café that makes you want to linger and soak in the surroundings. Definitely a must-visit spot if you’re in Bergen and want a taste of good coffee, great dessert, and a cozy...
Read moreabsolutely worth a little stop here. after a long walk I was craving a coffee, had an iced caramel latte with oat milk, and a vegetable sandwich on the side. it was fantastic, coffee flavor was balanced, sweet enough to enjoy it, perfectly cold and oat almost unnoticeable (just like I like it). the sandwich looked like it was made with slices of sourdough, vegetables were fresh and yummy and the flavor was plentiful. I'll confess it was a little crowded when I got there, but as I'm a solo traveler, that doesn't bother me. still managed to find a small table inside, and my interaction with the staff was great. overall a great local experience, go support this local business, they deserve...
