I was met with an attitude as soon as I entered the place. The service was the worst I've seen in years, I asked them for water and one of them they pointed at the water station, hidden behind some drugged up costumer.
After I asked for the password for the wifi, both waiters got loud with me and started pointing at where they wrote the name (in a very small corner of where the crappy menu is). After I saw it, they laughed at me as one of them sarcasticlly commented "I guess it's hard reading small letters for some".
The only time I saw the waiters smile was with each other, talking crap about other people and costumers, this was while waiting to order one carrot cake piece (which was overpriced and drier than sand). When I was ready to order, they had an attitude again like I was a burden. Mind you, I was only there for 10 minutes before I left and never looked back.
Never going there again, a waste of precious 10 minutes that I'm never getting back. There are other places that will treat you better like Brian's Boru (right next to Vågal), they got great meals during daytime with incredibly nice staffs and reasonable prices!

Read moreI was surprised when I walked into this bar. It was a late sunday, all coffee shops in the city were closed, Vågal was kind of a last resort to try and get some decent coffee. And I was really impressed! It’s hard to tell if I simply lucked out on the bartender/barista or if Vågal actually requires barista skills for the job, but nonetheless I was actually really impressed with both the Kenyan pourover I ordered and the latte my girlfriend got. The milk had nice texture and the latte art was great! Overall I’d highly recommend going here. The coffee is great and it had potentially my favorite atmosphere of any coffee-shop in town. My only slight criticism, more a recommendation than critique: they only carry BKB coffee, which although it’s gotten better and more «specialty» over the years, it still is far behind the top dogs like Jacu, Supreme and Langøra. So maybe having those roasteries featured as well could be an idea? But then again this is a bar after all, any specialty coffee is far beyond the others.
Keep up the great work guys! This was my first visit but it’ll be far...
Read moreThis place seemed to come from the heavens just at the right time once it started pouring rain on our visit to Bergen. It contained two words in the name number I recognized kaffe= coffee and vin= wine. The perfect place to escape the downpour and warm up.
The seating was nice and cozy with extra table seating in the back and comfy couches, lounge chairs and window bar seating in the front. The prices were decent. My husband got a cappuccino and I went for an americano. We both agreed neither were amazing although it fit the bill to warm us up and allow us to dry off.
I believe this place used to be called "Bergen Kaffebrenneri Vågen" which actually seems to now just be the name of the coffee roasting company that supplies their beans. Nice to hear the beans are locally roasted! Great spot to support local versus the Starbucks...
