A great place to explore the world of beer!
They have a great selection of beers on both tap and bottle/can. It is nearly impossible to taste it all. The selection is always changing according to the season and what's in style. The staff is helpful and professional, they always help you find the beer you want to drink without being judgemental or snobby.
The facilities blend an industrial style with historical elements such as historic maps of the city, photos and maps from old breweries, and other beer related historical elements. My personal favorite is a certain photo containing all the major players in the Norwegian beer industry in the early 1900's, with a close second being a photo taken abord the ship Fram containing captain, prime minister, and brewer-sponsors, amongst others.
If beer and beer-history is not enough, you can also enjoy a game of ping-pong or petanque with friends.
If you should feel peckish or even hungry they have two pop-up kitchens at any time, that are change at regular intervals, which allows you to always discover new food experiences to go with your beers. (The only downside beeing if you find a favorite soon to disappear)
On weekends you might struggle to find a table, but it is still a great place to drink good beer with friends. On the weekdays the staff has more time to enlighten you about beer, and you have greater opportunities to explore the historical elements one would fail to notice on a crowded weekend.
Overall a great place for people who love beer and are always looking for new tasting experiences (both beer and food related). Or just looking for a place to be able to converse with friends while enjoying your old favorites, without the loud music and flashing lights that might...
Read moreThey struggle to bring me gluten free beer sometimes unless i point and order them around despite them having an entire fridge with just gluten free beer and sometimes they'll even give you a glutened beer so you have to read on it just in case. The drinks are terrible but that's not what they're here for, the beer selection is wonderful but if you're gluten free it'll cost at least 150NOK/half litre of beer.
Excellent service despite the weird beer incompetence with some of the bartenders. Always a joy to be here but can't ever get drunk due to having to make sure I get the right beer and at least not a glutened beer...
Read moreTerrific place for craft lovers which so conveniently happens to open at 11 am, with a vast and diverse tap selection of Norwegian beers. Those coming in to drink as a pack of ale-thirsty bloodhounds are especially favoured, since the upstairs bar features an incredible offer of big and expensive bottles to share, conspicuously a collection of pretty rare 3Fontainens. There's some Central American and Oriental food to boot, with the lamb burger coming to mind. The only downsides are the touch of streamlined atmosphere you sometimes get (it is a big place) and the drooling of the single visitor transfixed by...
