I recently dined at Der Peppern Gror in Oslo, and it was an unforgettable experience. Opting for the Chef's Table tasting menu, I was treated to a culinary journey like no other. The open kitchen concept allowed me to witness the culinary magic unfold before my eyes, enhancing the overall experience. The chef's skills were exceptional, and it was evident in every dish. The lamb, in particular, was a standout, with a melt-in-your-mouth quality that left me speechless. The dal and chicken were seasoned to perfection, showcasing their commitment to flavors. For anyone visiting Oslo, I highly recommend Der Peppern Gror. To truly savor the best the restaurant has to offer, don't miss the Chef's Table tasting menu. With around 12 courses of their finest dishes, it's a gastronomic adventure worth embarking on. Plus, their attention to allergies, including a variety of gluten-free options, demonstrates their dedication to accommodating all diners. This restaurant is a must-visit for food enthusiasts seeking an exceptional dining experience in the city.

During our stay in Oslo, we searched for the best restaurants online and came across Der Peppern Gror - we were not disappointed! Even on a Monday night, the restaurant was packed but we had a made a reservation beforehand. Although it was a bit pricey, this restaurant was outstanding in all aspects - the food, ambience and service. The decor is unique in that there are pictures throughout the restaurant dedicated to telling the story of the owner's immigrant parents - very nice and unique touch I felt. The restaurant has done a fantastic job of being traditionally Indian while mixing in modern elements. The menu has something for everyone - traditional curries are offered as well as street-food style appetizers. The presentation of the food and drinks was exceptional. We were served very quickly, despite the fact that the restaurant was packed. Overall, the food was fresh, flavorful and authentically Indian with a modern twist. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for authentic Indian food when in Oslo!

The staff in this restaurant is chaotic and confused. First of all we had no reserved table when we arrived, because we were not in the system, even after I showed the booking confirmation. So we had to wait a little. After that we got the norwegian meny card which was interesting, because we spoke English the whole time with the staff. We ordered 2x mixed grill plates. The served food on the big plate looked quite stingy for 2 persons, but the staff explained that we can order additional rice for free if we need. As the bill came we realized why the plate was so stingy,...they served only one mixed grill plate and forgot the other one! Food was ok, for the price. All in all a very disappointing experience...

An authentic indian restaurant with many streetfood dishes. The menu was quite extensive and the waiter recommended a tasting menu. After tasting this, I would not recommend it. This is due to the dishes are small and the combination was not good. Indian dishes for are best with lamb curry and chicken. Maybe some grilled variant too. The starters was nice to taste new styles, but the mains was not good. The main dishes were butter chicken which was just OK, while scampi and the minced lamb were mediocre. We had to order a separate lamb curry dish in addition to get proper curry dish. And the cheese cake as dessert, well I normally dont eat dessert at Indian restaurant and there is a reason.

Before coming to Oslo while checking on TripAdvisor, I was surprised to find that out of top five resturants four were Indians. This place was 2nd on the list. It was very close to our hotel so one evening we came here for dinner. We started with Pinot Grigio white wine with Kulia Chaat. I knw it's odd combination but we like to enjoy our wine the way we want. For main course we had Palak Paneerand Tadka Daal with Tandoori Rotis. The food was very delicios. The outdoor seating in pleasant weather was very enjoyable. The service was impeccable thanks to our server Aris. Another plus point was that this beautiful square is pedestrian zone which added to its charm. Don't miss it while in Oslo...

The food is good. It’s important to state that. However, when considering the holy trinity of ratings drivers - taste, price and quantity, this place falls a bit short. It’s somewhat overpriced, probably due to the location of the restaurant. And the portion sizes won’t feed a grown man. That man would have to augment a main dish with naan, raita and maybe a beer. Overall, just an okay place with good food. Worth a visit if you don’t have other alternatives, but maybe not a second visit.
