The most terrible service I've ever experienced at a restaurant (or at any other location, for that matter. This is a restaurant we've visited quite frequently, because of the food, NOT the staff. But after our last visit, I can honestly say I'm never going back. I wanted a non alcoholic cocktail, called passion fruit mojito. My husband ordered for me by pointing in the menu to the cocktail I had chosen. Unfortunately, we were not aware that they had a drink called exactly the same in the list of cocktails containing alcohol. Even though we clearly pointed to something in the non alcoholic section, the waitress - who should be fully aware they had TWO different cocktails With this name - did not check if I really wanted the NON alcoholic one I pointed to, and served me an alcoholic drink. You might think this is bad enough already, but it gets so much worse… When we received the check, I noticed the price of my cocktail was pretty steep, so I asked if they might have charged me for an alcoholic one. I also pointed out that I was about to get in my car, and with Norwegian law having a zero tolerance for DUI, I wanted to make sure they at least had served me what I ordered. They couldn't even answer that at first, but after checking, they told me I had gotten an alcoholic cocktail. They also pointed out to me, that they had no way of knowing that I wanted a non alcoholic drink just because I pointed to a non alcoholic option in the menu. So I paid my bill and left. Later I wrote them an email explaining the situation, saying that maybe they could reconsider how they treat their customers in the future, when they themselves make mistakes. Oh how I regret that… That email led to them calling me, telling me how stupid I must be to drink a passion fruit mojito and not noticing it contained alcohol. Also, that pointing in the menu doesn't tell them what you want - well miraculously, they got me the food that I pointed to - and that I should be oh so thankful that I paid for a non alcoholic drink when they had served me booze for free…
It's been a tasty 10+ year relationship, but...
Read moreWe dined tonight, 1/5/23. Our experience was less than memorable. We ordered the Chef’s tasting menu and added an order of the wagyu beef. The first two courses were lovely. The dim sum was some of the best I’ve had. The crispy duck was delightful as well. However, after our server dropped off the second course, he disappeared into thin air.
We finished the duck and sat with empty dishes on our table, stacked and ready to be cleared, for at least 15 minutes before someone finally cleared them. We then proceeded to sit with an empty table and empty wine glasses for another half an hour without anyone even glancing at our table. When we finally flagged someone down, she told us impatiently that our server had taken a break before she simply walked away. At this point, the maitre’d noticed us looking around the restaurant for anyone to assist us, and we were, thankfully, allowed to cancel the wagyu beef. Our server finally reappeared after a 45 minute hiatus to unceremoniously drop off our main course, which was mediocre, especially nearly an hour after our second course. That was the last we saw of him.
The food was fine. The service was infuriating and disappointing. My partner and I are both seasoned veterans in the fine dining service industry. When dining out, we hope to have the experience that we would strive to deliver in our own work. It is a shame when the “renown” of a restaurant interferes with the desire of the staff to continue to deliver a 5-star experience to their guests and patrons. Perhaps at one point, Dinner Restaurant was Michelin recommended. Unfortunately, and for quite clear reason, it...
Read moreFood is nothing to go oohhh and aahhhh over. As my wife put it: "You make better food at home love".
I had fish. It was ok. Nothing to scream omg over. My wife had crispy peking duck....she said the crisp was fine, but the duckmeat was extremely dry. The accompaning rice tortillas were obviously premade. Tasted just like springroll wrappers you can buy in the shops.
My elder sister love the food in this place, I think because she feels special eating in such an expensive resturant, but to be honest the food is waaaay overpriced and i cannot shake the feeling of a lot of stuff being prefabricated retail food heated up.
For this pricetag i would expect every single person around the table to moan in satisfaction. Although the food is not bad, it is far from a 4 or 5 star.
Service is good, but they never came and asked us if the food tasted to our satisfaction.(that i recall)
My younger sister has milk allergy...and ordered sorbet which they served with a müsli crunch...containing milk proteins despite her informing them. They were very accommodating to exchange the plate, but if the customer say you have allergy, serve a dish accordingly the first time. It could otherwise have deadly consequences.
My elder sister probably will go back. Me and my wife, not so much.
Meal price is about 400NOK per head for main course. If you order dishes for 2 or more, cuvert price is 580-890NOK per head for menus.
Way too expensive for the cullinary taste reflection in my opinion.
Very clean bathrooms, although the place is not wheelchair friendly as the toilets are in the basements...
