Was greeted by a friendly and helpful waiter that helped us with our coats and showed us to our table. Sadly from this point everything just got worse and worse. We waited 10 minutes before anyone asked us for something to drink, and when i asked for a drinks meny they just had one for bottles “but we have an good selection of glasses and other beverages also” said the waiter without any further explanation before she vanished leaving me clueless to what else than wine bottles they had. So when she returned about 5 minutes later i asked if they had any champagne on glass, which they had and it arrived quite briefly after. Sadly this was one of the few things to arrive to our table without a wait for 15 minutes or more. When we got our drink (about 20 minutes after arrival) we were presented with a meny, where the waiter explained the four different meny selections they had. We went for the 6 course and was first presented with a tray of different nuts and seeds, nothing special but not bad. Then while we still sampled the plate another waiter than before came in a rush to serve us the first dish. After this we got served another dish every 20 minute, and with the portion size they offer it took about 5 seconds to eat it which left us with 19 minutes and 55 seconds of waiting time between every dish. With this amount of waiting one would expect the waiter to be observant and make sure that you have your drinks..but no. When i finished my first glass of champagne, i had to seek out the waiter -which was quite hard to do, seeing she was not anywhere to spot in the dining area except when she served food- to get another drink. This time a peroni on tap, which quite frankly was the only really good thing about my visit. As the dishes (very slowly) was presented and eaten i couldn't help notice that the only thing thai about the food was an extreme amounts of lemon juice and coconut cream, which completely overtoned the other elements of the dishes. And my girlfriend (which is from thailand) couldn't recognize more than two of the dishes. And me personally think that the only good dish was the one with inspiration from china (without coconut cream and lemon). And then when i once again found myself with an empty glass and countless efforts to make contact with a member of the staff i gave up and stuck to water the rest of the meal. I could have overlooked that they had not quite nailed the thai aspect, but when the food taste only average and far worse than you would expect i’m not pleased. The only thing micheling about this restaurant is the portion sizes and fancy presentasion.
Overall i found that the staff were very monotone and not that interested in having us there, and trust me when i say i'm not one of the most difficult customers. In the three hours and 6 courses we were there they filled up our water twice and asked if everything was good once. With service this bad and food tasting just as good as any other average restaurant in Oslo, id just go to a thai restaurant where they actually have thai food. And if you absolutely want to taste Terjes work visit Ahan next door, if you want more food for less.
I have nothing against paying up to 5000 kr for a meal if it's worth it, but 1000kr pr person for food that is overwhelmed with coconut and lemon and waiters that just dont are interested in doing their job is a bad deal. We even had to visit another restaurant afterwards to not go to bed hungry.
Sorry Plah,...
Read moreI tend to be critical and have high expecations, but Plah has given me one of the best restaurant experiences I've had. We were 9 people from four countries, and one person from Finland considered a move to Oslo after this meal. ;) Service before and after was flawless, food was spectacular from beginning to end with high quality produce; the oysters was beautiful, the cod perfectly cooked and matched with a Thai curry and the recommended wine pairing was spot on. I've backpacked in Thailand three times, and this meal was truly authentic. The portions were above average, I would say. The atmosphere was very good and is suitable for both work dinner and romantic settings. Plah is our new go-to...
Read moreWe had a splendid fine dining experience at Plah, where the menu is mainly consisted by the staple dishes of Thai cuisine. We started with a very balanced wine cocktail. Then continued with delicious starters. My favs from the starters were the wonton and veal tartare with crispy rice crackers. I absolutely loved the duck with fresh noodles, which was the main course. And I also really enjoyed the omelette with mussels & sriracha and the monk fish with bok choy. The desserts were very light and yet delicious. Poor man’s pancake with the mango & rice ice cream was delightful. The wine pairings were also very on point and I loved them as well! Highly...
