Sir Winston’s Pub became an unexpected highlight during our time in Gothenburg. We stopped in for what we thought would be a quick round of beers, but the experience turned into a relaxed, memorable break in the middle of our day. The pub sits right in the heart of the city, making it an ideal spot to soak in the atmosphere without feeling rushed.
Instead of grabbing a table outside, we managed to snag a spot inside near the large windows, which turned out to be perfect. From there, we had the best of both worlds: a warm, cozy pub environment paired with an excellent vantage point for people-watching. The wide windows gave us a front-row seat to the energy of the street outside — a steady rhythm of locals, shoppers, and travelers moving through the center of town.
The pub itself has that classic European charm: wood-paneled walls, warm lighting, and an unpretentious buzz that makes it easy to settle in. The beer list had plenty of familiar options alongside some local choices, so we were able to try something new without overthinking it. The staff were quick and friendly, which kept the experience easy and enjoyable.
Sir Winston’s wasn’t a planned stop, but it ended up being exactly the kind of spontaneous find that adds personality to a trip. If you’re in Gothenburg and looking for a spot to rest your feet, enjoy a drink, and take in the city, this place absolutely...

I paid over 100 NOK, like 10 euros , for a beer ... but when I wanted to go outside to my friends for a smoke I was denied by the guards and my beer was taken away and I was thrown out!
I had done nothing wrong, I was polite and nice. But protested when they confiscated my expensive beer. I had even given a lot of tips.
I regard this as a robbery and I am gonna report it to police.
And to the owners.
I warn against going to this pub, as it seems like the guards are looking for excuses to make trouble with the guests, and humiliate them and even use violence against them...like they threatened to do with me.
Later I learned that they had a policy against mingling between tables because of corona, but why did they NOT tell me that, in the first place? To me it seems like they just looked for excuses to make a drama. And why are guests not allowed to go outside for a smoke?
NEVER AGAIN I WILL VISIT THIS PLACE!
THIS PLACE IS A SHAME TO OSLO AND NORWAY; AND I HOPE FOR A COMING...
Read moreI am a tourist in Norway who is genuine and decent enough to find a good bar near my hotel to have a couple of beers and connect with the locals maybe. With this in mind, I came across this bar a few feet away from my hotel. I was well dressed in full pants and sweater top (with a high end jacket) since it’s winter time. As I tried to enter, the guy at the entrance approached me and stopped me right there. I told him that I am just one person trying to get into the bar. He outright said No. I asked him, is the bar full? Do we need reservations. I could see people going in and out but he was not stopping those people. His only response was ‘No’. I don’t want to assume anything (maybe because I am an Asian or something else!?) but it was very rude of the door person who did not allow me access without any particular reason. All he said was ‘No’. This made me lose my motivation o to go to any other place. Hope they...
