Food: 2/5
We ordered three items from their menu for a quick lunch.
Miss Piggy Baos (very good): The bao itself was not overcooked. The flavors were well-balanced, not too greasy nor too sweet. It could use more meat, but overall, very good. Pad Thai (very average): It had the right texture and noodles I was looking for but needed more ginger and spice/heat. Marudoba Sake (sushi): Unfortunately, we were unable to taste this because, even though I specifically informed them that my sister is allergic to shellfish and shrimp, they thought it was okay to fry the sushi in the same oil used for tempura. I believe it’s crucial for them to include this information on the menu, particularly for people with allergies. Apologies would have been appreciated as well. Overall, it felt like the staff didn’t want to be there. There were no exchanged smiles, and there was no casual inquiry about the food or our experience, something you might expect in an Asian restaurant. Perhaps we visited on an off day. Nonetheless, I am willing to give another branch a try, especially for...
Read moreBooked at table for the evening.. when we arrived no one bothered to welcome or acknowledge us.. eventually had to ask for our table.. given no menus.. just sat there.. had to ask for menus... told by Waiter oh you can just order using the App.. as we're busy and not enough staff (the restaurant was by no means busy or full ) at this point in the evening it was too late to try and find somewhere else it would of been embarrassing in front of our business guests to have to do this and it was a cold night so we ordered drinks... 40 minutes to get them... food turned up.. after a long wait.... no follow-up from staff when we asked for our drinks after another long wait staff looked annoyed... asked for bill 3 times before we got it ... then the Waiter had a smile for us! Asked if we enjoyed our meals? When we replied we did enjoy the food but the service let it down she developed an attitude because we didn't leave her a tip!... never again piss poor service...
Read moreA good thing we had a reservation, because good luck getting in without one. Atmosphere is ok but the whole place is full of too-loud music blasting throughout your meal, causing everyone to be almost shouting to be heard and making things even louder. Layout of both floors is also very crowded, with not much space to move between some tables.
Appetizers did not come out at the same time, and were not worth the price. Chicken gyoza dumplings covered in Sumo's "signature" sauce were overly sweet as said sauce is a BBQ. Chicken karaage was very good, but came out with the main course, resulting in a very crowded table. Dirty Ushi sushi was flavorless and messy, and Miss Piggy Pork dish was chewy. Rice with the pork was also impossible to eat and had an odd taste. Pointless banana leaves as decoration on nearly every plate. Not worth the 1200nok spent on a dinner of 2 appetzers, 2 main dishes and 2 drinks, the only dish worth the money was the...
