Title: A Disappointing Decline in Quality: Amundsens Bryggeri og Spiseri Review
Rating: ★★★☆☆
Amundsens Bryggeri og Spiseri used to hold a special place among my top ten favorite spots in Oslo, offering a delightful combination of amazing beer, great food, and an exceptional staff. However, as a loyal customer, it is disheartening to witness the decline of what was once a unique and passionate establishment.
In the past, Amundsen was more than just a place to enjoy a good brew. It was an interactive space where one could engage in conversations with the knowledgeable staff about brewing processes, delve into the intricacies of home brewing, and savor delicious food. Unfortunately, that spirit seems to have vanished, leaving only a shadow of its former self.
It begs the question: What happened to the passion, Amundsen? Where did your talented and knowledgeable staff go? It appears that the establishment has made changes that prioritize saving pennies over maintaining its exceptional standards. This shift is evident in various aspects, particularly the noticeable decline in food quality.
The menu, once a delightful selection of delectable dishes, has taken a hit. It feels as if corners are being cut to reduce costs, resulting in a noticeable decrease in the overall dining experience. The once vibrant and enticing food options have lost their appeal, leaving patrons longing for the exceptional culinary journey they once enjoyed at Amundsen.
Regrettably, it is with a heavy heart that I find myself bidding farewell to Amundsens Bryggeri og Spiseri, possibly for the last time. It appears that the establishment has lost its mojo, its very reason to exist. Despite my fond memories and past positive experiences, I must now adjust my rating from a previous five-star to a three-star.
While Amundsen may still hold some charm for casual visitors, it no longer possesses the unique allure and exceptional quality that initially captured my heart. I hope that the establishment will take this feedback constructively, rediscover its passion, and make the necessary changes to regain its...

We chose this place for spending our Saturday night with our friendgroup. We arrived at around 11:50 pm., and already by that time the bodyguard was rather reluctant to serve us a table, even though there were plenty available.
Unfortunately as a foreigner, I was not aware that I am not allowed to leave our table and buy a pack of snus at the kiosk next door. So we ordered a beer and went to the kiosk without any warning of this (there were 3 tables occupied so it would be easy for the security guy to spot us and then warn us...). When we arrived back, he rudely told us that we have to leave, and he gave us 10 seconds to drink up our beers. Although I explained to him that I was not aware of this rule and I am very sorry for the inconvinience, he sent me and my friend away while all my other friends were still having full glasses of drinks and not able to leave just right away. During my talk to the security man, he told us that we should be even grateful that he allowed me and my friends into the place. With this last comment, he made it clear that a group of young people who are having fun but still willing to spend quite the amount of money in bars like these are not welcomed.
In overall, I consider myself a respectful person and if any employee would have told me/us about this rule, we would have respected their decision about sending us away but withouth any warnings, I feel their acts were over the...
Read moreThree people wanting to eat and drink beer, decided to support a local brewery. One of us has celiacs, so I called ahead of time to confirm that the restaurant could accommodate this. Over the phone I was told yes, of course. The only thing is that they cannot guarantee that the fried food is gluten free. Fair enough, we decide to book a table online and write a comment in the booking as well that one person has celiacs. I had also gotten 2 confirmations/reminders of the booking in the days leading up to the booking.
Yesterday we came to the restaurant. When I came in the waitress gave me their booking list and asked me to confirm that the booking was mine. I then confirmed yes, that’s my booking and could see the comment written that one of us has celiacs. As we were placing our drink orders, my friend asked about gluten free beer. At this point the server informed us that he could have a gluten free beer, but the kitchen would refuse to make any food gluten free and that he would not be able to have anything there. She also tried lying that there was no note on the reservation (I saw the note when she asked me to confirm that it was my booking).
I have full understanding that it is difficult for restaurants to accommodate food allergies, especially on busy days. However, there were many opportunities to tell us about this beforehand. Not at 19:00 on a Friday in Oslo when all other restaurants are...
