I eat at restaurants almost every day of the week, and this weekend, myself and my friend and his family met up in Stavanger to eat out and enjoy ourselves. Unfortunately the enjoyment of taste (Which is the first thing we usually like about food) was non -present. The same with the customer service and the bathrooms. I'll get back to that later.
Moon House is the worse restaurant I have ever visited. Ever. And I have been in quite many restaurants.
The service level is so low, it's actually scary. We asked for some alterations on the menu, but this was very hard to get passed by the kitchen, so we went with what was possible. Please note, there were only us and one other family in the whole restaurant. They managed to give us two wrong orders in addition to a soup with the taste of glue and some other materials, which was sent back to the kitchen. (Also, they burned some food, so the fire alarm went off. Just to be fair, that can happen anywhere - But we're still just two families here)
I myself asked for a spicy dish with chilli. What was presented to me was chicken in a sticky sauce of white of some sort, never ever seen this type of chinese food before. It was discusting and smelled even worse. I asked where the chilli was, and she said that they dont make food with chilli. Only paste... Now what does that tell you about this "Asian" cuisine? It's totally not asian, and this is probably someone whom have absolutely no idea what asian food should be, how it should taste, look, be made and presented.
Obviously we sent back that food as well.
I ended up with having only water, as they don't have any capabilities within cooking of any sort acceptable by a normal standard. My friends were in total shock and actually said that this made them not want chinese or asian food again in Stavanger, and maybe not for the rest of the year.
I did however take the time to visit the toilet, which looked like it was the back of a pub, poor paint, dark and a fashion made in the 70's...
Needless to say, if it was possible, it would have been zero stars given to this atrocious, appalling attempt of...
Read moreThe place was cozy, especially with the chinese instrumental music there. However, the food was not as good as the place itself. I tried the sweet and sour shrimp and the deep fried pork with pepper sauce for the main course. As for the appetizer, I only tried the peking soup. The peking soup tasted too much rice vinegar and cooking wine. The smell of the shrimp was quite dominant which is not ok for me. There was no broth taste at all. The deep fried pork was really good nevertheless. It was soft, tender, and crunchy. On the other hand, the pepper sauce was bland, a bit tasteless, and too viscous. The fried shrimp was really good though. The sauce was a bit too sweet, but it was not dominant at all, which is acceptable.
Considering the price for the portion of each dish and the market competition with other chinese food restaurant nearby, this is higher than other competitors. In the end, business is business. So the food taste needs to be improved a lot to compete with other...
Read moreThe atmosphere in this restaurant is very nice with background instrumental music. I liked the decorations and there is a lot of seating for like 50 people.
I ordered the chop beef suey, it was served with rice. Overall it was a satisfying and tasty meal, but felt like a takeout or a food truck rather than a high quality dine-in experience. The beef was the best part of the dish, tender, and tasty. The vegetables, however, were lacking freshness. I suspect they might be frozen which is a disappointment given the prices. I also think the portion size could have been a bit bigger, but it...
