Honestly? Most of the food was alright.. started off with Langostino + Wagyu dumplings and they were good, loved the chili sauce, had a good spicy punch to it.
Then we got the following cuts for the Japanese grill: Prime Rib, Skirt Streak and Pork belly. The Skirt Steak was great (never disappoints thanks to the fat it brings) and the pork belly quite good. The Prime Rib was salty though, very salty...
The 3 sauces (Ponzu, BBQ and a hot sauced based on some seafood) were all great as well.
We were recommended a rice dish to go with the BBQ (good idea), especially the duck rice but it was just alright, would have preferred steamed white rice if I would of known 😯
To drink we had 2 cocktails, the one the waiter recommended which was called Nelly Jelly I think. It was sweet but also strong, just like the waiter described. I had the Gin Tonic cocktail which I forgot the name but it had white vermouth in it.. it was alright, maybe missing a bit more gin 🥲.
Tiramisu for dessert which was alright as well, looked really good but wasn't great, gotta be honest. This is one of my favorite desserts so yeah, I have high standards 🥲🥲.
Service was very very good, to be expected... but I came here for the food so what did I think?
It was overpriced for what I had as the food was good, but just that. Nothing amazed me and sadly,...
Read moreMaguro is a great place for sushi. The fish in the sushi and temaki rolls we tried was extremely fresh. They had a more varied selection of sushi than we usually see and the temaki hand rolls were huge. The taco trio we ordered (Taco Explotion) also had excellent quality fish but for me the corn taco shells didn't complement the fish flavors well. I also ordered the soft shell crab roll and wasn't a fan of the cream cheese in the roll or the sauce on top. Also, the crab in this dish didn't seem to me as fresh as rest of fish we ate.
Dessert was delicious. The molten lava cake was perfectly cooked with a moist cake surrounding a rich, gooey center. It came with a huge scoop of ice cream. (We choose the matcha flavor but they also offered strawberry and lychee). The mochi was tasty too; it came in 3 flavors (matcha, mango and strawberry).
We also tried a Fuji apple sake that was a delight. It had a wonderful aroma of apple and was not too sweet. It complemented the fish well.
Service was prompt and attentive. The decor is a bit so-so for me. Lots of...
Read moreThis was one of the worst places I have ever been in the world. They are lucky to get a 1-star rating. First it was a Saturday night and they had a sax player blasting the music so loudly that it was uncomfortable to my ears. It was difficult for our group to speak with each other it was so intrusive. Even when the sax player took a break they blasted his recorded music.
We ordered our drinks and appetizers at the same time but their most popular drink was not available. Additionally, the best looking appetizer on the menu was also not available. We had finished our apps before we even received our drinks. This was including beer from a bottle. Our water was never re-filled. After I complained about the music no one ever came back to our table. We got the message and closed out the tab and left. Maybe the management wants to turn this place into a cheap music club. They are well on their way. It was about 10% occupied at 7pm on a Saturday night. Definitely would...
