La Terraza on the Top — Restaurant in Arequipa

They say the higher you go, the closer to God. In this case, it’s the sun, a poncho, and a pisco sour. Located five flights of stairs above your cardio capacity, La Terraza rewards your uphill battle with one of the best rooftop views of Plaza de Armas, and a humbling reminder of what thin air and thick tourist traffic feels like.

Although known as a prime sunset spot, we arrived fashionably late… post-sundown. No golden hour, just golden memories of squinting into the night while wrapped in complimentary ponchos that made us look like time-traveling Andean sherpas.

The food leaned toward “pleasantly edible” and the drinks were strong enough to make you think you’re in a Hemingway novel. Service was kind, patient, and admirably tolerant of people arguing over who gets the best seat in the dark.

Life is better on top of this Restuarant. I've read reviews saying it's a little pricey? REALLY? LOL. I paid $35 US dollars with a big tip for drinks, two huge main dishes which were amazing and desert for two, I was dumbfounded it was so cheap. Did I mention the food was amazing? I even got spicy wings and being from Buffalo (got the crispy) where so good! Oh the view.... OMG, second to none with a great atmosphere playing 80/90's music. At night it got cold and the waitress brought traditional Peruvian Ponchos for us to wear, what a great idea and this restaurant not only will I be back but totally recommend putting this on your "bucket" list on...

Take your money elsewhere. Avoid!!! For our starter we ordered garlic bread and got burnt toast. They had no ice for our cold drinks (what restaurant doesn't have ice??). We ordered lasagna for our main and received spaghetti Bolognese. When we complained the waiter Ronnie apologised, took it away and put it in a cupboard? He then came back and said the mistake wasn't his, he had put in the right order but that there was no lasagna (despite the person next to us eating it). Whether he was lying or the chef took it upon themselves to change our order is unknown but we were not impressed. Completely unacceptable for the prices...
