La Plaza Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Arequipa

Definitely the place to go to when you're craving a dinner salad! Being a typical Californian, they were even tolerant of me here when I custom ordered my salad with a honey mustard vinaigrette---worth it!! XD Great house salad with lots of "goodies" (i.e. not just a bed of lettuce), lovely view of the Plaza and church, very nice staff, and free wifi. The place was confusing to find: look for the bouncer outside of the fancy hotel and tell him you want to go to the restaurant and he will radio up to see if a table is available and then point you towards the elevator in the lobby. This is super weird BUT it's also a perk because a lot of the other restaurants in the plaza let street sellers/ beggars in and they'll go to your table asking you for money while you're eating an obviously overpriced meal...kind of catching you with your pants down. Anyways definitely recommend this place for an occasional fancy...

The setting was really nice, gorgeous view of the plaza. But unfortunately the service was not great and the food was average. There was 2 of us. We ordered 1 starter to share and then a main meal each to which the waiter told us that's a lot of food.. we thought nothing of it. We waited quite a while for our drinks then soon after we got the drinks our starter and main meals came at the same time!!! Ordered the chicken milanese. Came with too little salad. The chicken was a battered frozen schnitzel. The French fries were similarly frozen and near tasteless. I been traveling one month in South America and this was my first poor choice and the first disappointing meal. It should be easy for me and you, dear reader, to find something better. Good luck.
