Café de la Paz must hold the Guinness Record for the worst service on the planet. Yesterday night we were there after being 20 minutes waiting for service at its neighbor, El Parquetito, without being acknowledged, but here the thing was worse.
A waitress without charisma or a smile in her face took the order: a couple of empanadas for me and an American coffee for my companion. My guess is that since we were locals, our table was considered worthless, assuming we would not leave tips that otherwise tourists would leave.
A discourteous waiter, in the most disrespectful way possible, brought a small tray of coffee and sugar and put it roughly and noisily on the side of the table, to the center and, without asking who the coffee was for, shouted "BOLETA OR INVOICE" while he retired and turned his back on us.
When the same waitress who took the order arrived with my empanadas, we gave her the complaints of the case and refused to continue in the place. We asked to speak with the manager or person in charge but she said that he was not present. A horrible, unpleasant and humiliating experience. Google should implement negative stars because even giving one star to Café de la Paz (the minimum allowed) is a lot to gauge the service in this restaurant.
Read moreCafe de la Paz offers a decent but unremarkable dining experience for tourists visiting Lima. The food was average - edible and satisfactory but nothing that would make you want to return specifically for the cuisine. I tried a few traditional Peruvian dishes that were prepared competently but lacked the wow factor you might hope for when dining in a culinary destination like Lima. The decoration and ambiance fell into the "so-so" category - functional but forgettable, with minimal effort put into creating a distinctive atmosphere. The space feels like many other tourist-oriented restaurants in the area. The saving grace of Cafe de la Paz was definitely the customer service. The staff were attentive, friendly, and eager to please. They made genuine efforts to ensure we enjoyed our time there, offering recommendations and checking in regularly without being intrusive. If you're in the area and need a convenient place to eat, it's perfectly fine, but I wouldn't go out of your way to visit when Lima has so many outstanding culinary...
