Stayed here for about two weeks as its one of the few places that allow a dog in a private room. There were some good points and some bad points, to make the general experience average.
Good reliable shower with hot water taxi service through the reception (with a cheap local application) coffee at reception for 5 soles small but comfy terrace for two people overlooking Kennedy park some very kind cleaning personal and receptionists location in the center of Miraflores
Bad Wifi (there's three different ones between which you have to switch all the time for a mediocre connection) atmosphere (in the two weeks here, I never really made friends or interacted with people as much as I wanted to. It seems more a hostel for loners, families and the elderly. some receptionists were quite apathic and seemed like they were working with zero enthusiasm and sometimes even being straight out rude. 30 dollars per night for a private room was a lot. Sure, the location is great, but there should be more to offer for this price. once my groceries were taking away from the fridge. When I asked about it, I didn't receive a response or compensation. my room didn't have a window so it sometimes became quite hot and smelly. one day, there was no wifi and no water available for most of the day, which Made me wonder what im even paying for. Reception didn't inform me beforehand or offered some form of compensation.
Overall not a place I will remember sadly. The general atmosphere was just quite dead...
Read moreI agree with previous reviews about how the place seems to just use its location as it’s only good point. Kitchen has very limited cutlery and kitchenware as well as no included breakfast to be seen, I’m not sure where it is.
The place is quite dirty and needs a bit of a makeover. The beds were comfortable and clean but the bathrooms and common areas seemed neglected.
Wifi was quick at times but did not reach my dorm room. A middle aged man was also living there for a month in the dorm and stole some food from us as well as just being a bit creepy to my girlfriend. The walls are thin and there are no fans. Sockets are pretty plentiful in the dorms. They provided towel to our dorm mates. Did not provide a lock for the lockers which is fair enough.
The staff were mostly rude and seemed like they didn’t want to be there. Any request was greeted with a grunt. I’m sure they are good at some other role but a receptionist is not one of them. No hand towels in any bathroom and when I told the man in reception he just said to use another one. I was there two nights and when leaving, there still was none.
Like I say, the location is great but we left feeling a bit uneasy and uncomfortable with our stay in a...
Read moreI decided to stay at Flying Dog Hostel, Lima after loving my stay in their Arequipa hostel. Big mistake. The only good points about this hostel are the staff are very friendly and the good location. The cleanliness of this hostel is really poor. During my time there when the cleaner came into the dorm, all they did was change the bins. I should have got pictures of the bathroom, the sink area and toilet were disgusting. On my last night, I opened my locker (which open even with your padlock locked) and there were loads of these little bugs in there! I think they may have been bedbugs because I then noticed them crawling on the bunks (pictures aren’t great but pic 1, you can see one on top of logo then pic 2, on logo on bunk). The kitchen also looked like it could have done with a good clean. Fridge desperately needed clearing out. So my advice to you is NOT to stay here if you value cleanliness...
