By far the worst restaurant experience in all of Peru. Very expensive to start with, but also the quality of food was very poor. And the worst things was an extremely bad service experience I had to make: one of the dishes that I ordered contained lots of mayonnaise, which can be very dangerous to a "foreigner stomach" - despite having stressed the sensitive stomach to the waitress before ordering, despite explicitly asking for sensitive ingredients and despite the fact that this main ingredient of the dish was not mentioned in the menu. When complaining about it and not refusing to eat this dish (because with a sensitive stomach there is a high chance that this would cause stomach problems), they refused to take back the dish, even after discussing multiple times with different staff, and despite the fact that the mayonnaise would have needed to be mentioned in the description on the menu. So instead of admitting the mistake (or at the very least being service-oriented towards the customer), they would insist on the payment for this dish and did not care the least for the customer but only to squeeze the maximum profit out of the already very expensive prices.
So don't make the same mistake that I did and be attracted by the convenient location close to Kennedy Park - you will only get very expensive and poor quality food, and worst of all maybe a horrible service...
Read moreBeautiful outdoor location to absorb Lima and a classic Peruvian meal. The menu, in terms of options, is generous. Unfortunately, the preparations are not.
I ordered scallop parmesan (the ones shown baked in scallop shells overflowing with stringy melted-toasted cheese). They were good, but only because I love toasted cheese. The scallops were TINY and only one on each shell. Scallops are a gentle flavor and are easily overpowered and lost, and that's exactly the result of using tiny scallops. The poor little thing didn't stand a chance of holding up against the atronger flavor of parmesan cheese. The result is very expensive toasted cheese.
I also had the chicken tamal/tamale. The flavor was very good. They clearly used a rich chicken broth in the preparation. The disappointment here was the same as with the scallops: a SINGLE small chunk of chicken in the whole slab of corn masa. Also a single black olive.
I cannot recommend eating here, which is infortunate because the recipes are flavorful. It's just not a very honest preparation--like offering someone two "drumsticks" and giving them drummettes from chicken wings instead. You know it's deceptive, so why are you doing it? (Our waiter told us that many people complain about the single piece of chicken...
Read moreWe had three local dishes that were fantastic and drank the Pisco sour drinks our server CESAR recommended. He asked us questions about our prior Pisco sours and recommended a couple of variations on the theme that also used the Pisco liquor. We observed that his tables service rivalled that we’ve experienced in 5* restaurants - he took the order, served and cleared ’ladies first’ and served from the left for both of us. These were small professional courtesies that we appreciated and noticed. He was friendly and helpful but also left us to enjoy our meal. He offered a small dish of extra sauce when we were scraping the bottom of the dish and checked on the timing of bringing our second course when we were finishing up our appetizer. All food, the venue and the service...
