Chifa San Joy Lao — Restaurant in Lima Metropolitan Area

With 1.6m Chinese in Peru, Chinese food take on a unique identity in this Latin America country as Chifa. We were in the neighborhood and thought would be nice to check out what the food is like. (We are ethic Chinese from Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong) Food here is about volume, not about quality. At least they cannot be judge with the same standard where we are from. The dim sum platter lack refinement and the skin were thick, ordered sweet and sour pork with pineapple but was served with canned peach instead. The roast duck was served in a pool of sauce and the fried noodles was bland and the taste and texture of noodles were poor. Only Lemon chicken and prawn omelette were acceptable. One of the popular Chinese restaurants en Barillo Chino, Chifa San Joy Lao. Located in the heart of the pedestrian walkway they've got a great menu selection. We tried their 3rd option (for 2 people) which included sweet and sour chicken (pollo ti pa ka) and sliced bbq pork with green beans and garlic (chancho al ajo) accompanied with a heaping portion of rice and fried wantans I enjoyed the chicken, but founds the bbq a but bland. ¿Qué pasó con san Joy lao? Hoy fui a su local del barrio chino. Para empezar demoré más de una hora para ingresar, pero me tome la molestia en hacer mi cola porque me "gustaba su comida". Ingrese al local y nadie me hacia caso, luego de 20 minutos pude realizair la orden y luego de 20 minutos más me trajeron el pedido. Pedí un arroz chaufa especial y chancho cruyoc, si bien es cierto las porciones son grandes pero ¿qué paso con la sazón? El chaufa o mejor dicho el arroz no tenia absolutamente nada de sabor, no tenía sal , aceite ajonjolí ni nada, era un arroz insípido, parecía que estaba comiendo arroz blanco, solo estaba rico el chancho asado que viene en trozos en el chaufa pero la estrella principal que es el arroz estaba feo. Lamentablemente por la desesperación de comer porque literal almorcé casi las 5 de la tarde no me di cuenta del arroz solo, ya que yo mezclaba el arroz con el guiso de chancho cruyoc que es un sabor dulce, pero como pedí para llevar el resto de comida que sobre( que por cierto era una gran proporcion) me di cuenta en mi casa cuando iba a cenar el chaufa, que mal enserio que haya pasado esta circunstancia, entiendo que estén full por atender a sus comensales, pero no deben descuidar las sazón, se supone que es un restaurant que tiene años y que su especialidad es el chaufa, hasta me atrevo a decir que el chaufa de la vuelta de mi casa tiene más sazón de lo que comi hoy. Espero que hoy solo haya sido un tropiezo o q de seguro el chef no fue hoy a trabajar y tuvieron que improvisar, porque me han decepcionado.
