THis is a small corner shack inside the Mercado Municipal (city market) N1 in Surquillo, next to a boulevard where you cand find some post lunch choices (coffee, desserts). I had a phenomenal ceviche with fried calamari (chicharron), in its right point, fresh ingredients, made right in front of you by skillful owner Alex. My friends had some fish chicharron (with yuca) and a chupe (hot fish or lobster soup, a distant kin of clam chowder). You can ask for some cold beer or a very decent jar of chicha morada. What a great find. The reason I love the Internet. I was in the Indian market and starving and found this hole in the wall inside a different market. Very difficult for me to locate but well worth the efforts. Alex is a great chef. The people could not be nicer. Alex is open, well, has been since May 2021 at least. Anyway, I’m finally getting around to posting a review…of my favorite cebiche in Lima.

Seriously good. Cebiche, arroz con mariscos, the Chilcano soup (included appetizer) chicharrón de pescado and chaufa.
