Always an experience. The ambiance, interior and decor captures a hacienda from bygone times. Professional waiters that have been there for decades. And so has the menu, with a few additions in the seafood department. I had never needed a lunch reservation but this time of the year, with holidays looming, office holiday lunches are de rigeur. So a packed restaurant is never a good thing: kitchen is on overdrive and waiters in spite of their experience are frazzled. This is the first time I have not returned a dish for being past lukewarm, because I knew it would take longer than the time it took to come out of the kitchen the first time around. So the anticuchos were not steaming, but they manage to pass the taste test, so did the fried sweet potatoes. Empathy for the staff was the lesson of today. And I survived the cold anticuchos.

This is the second time I have visited Jose Antonio in my last two trips to Lima. Awesome, traditional, Peruvian cuisine. We brought a couple of amazing red wines and had a couple of great dishes. We had the special mix plate, Lomo Saltado, and Recoto Relleno. I highly recommend the anticuchos de corazon, they are ridiculously awesome. The one dish that will always keep me coming back is the Rocoto Relleno. It is spicy, sweet, and has an awesome comforting flavor to it. If you want traditional Peruvian cuisine with good service, come here. You won't be let down!

This is still one of the best restaurants for peruvian and international food in Lima. I know that it has been in existence for several decades, and I was so pleased that the quality remains. The flavors continue to be the traditional, no fusion, no changes, true flavors! Love it!! I recommend anyone to go there to enjoy the true peruvian flavors. Service was excellent. Try the Piqueo Especial, it says for 2 people, but 4 people can enjoy plenty. The drinks were very good!! All and all, it is highly...
