This is a great place to stay if you don't want to be in the middle of the 'tourist zone' and want a quieter place very close to everything. You've seen the map so you know it is in San Isidro, It is located is a walkable neighborhood that has everything. You're a block away from a supermarket, a few paces from two corner stores and a pharmacy, and a couple of blocks from a park overlooking the ocean. If you like to walk, this is a great starting point. If you're just stopping in Lima for a day (say, on the way to Cuzco) then it really doesn't much matter where you stay. But, if you're looking to slow down for a few days and do a bit of pleasurable walking this is a great place. Cabs to Miraflores and downtown Lima are inexpensive and plentiful. Ok, so that is location. The hotel itself is pleasant, clean, and covers all the basics, with some nice extras. Breakfast (eggs, sausage, bread, juice, etc) Cable TV and wifi are included. Didn't use the pool but the back area is very pleasant albeit small. The pictures on the hotel site are accurate and capture what you get. What they don't capture is the charm of the walking in the local neighborhood. I'm updating to add that the staff is...
Read moreOne again I would like to address the amazing service I received at this small Boutique Hotel. In October I was here for 11 days. As always, a friendly face upon arrival and excellent service from everyone. Unfortunately, I was sick and in bed for 5 days. The staff at this Hotel are amazing and went out of their way to help me in any way they could. Which included calling the Dr (who actually makes house calls, unlike Canada), allowing me to go to breakfast late, foot massage, checking on me if I didn’t leave my room. picking up my laundry and numerous phone calls on my behalf. ||||To be on a first name basis with these young people is a privilege and one, I will not take for granted! This Boutique Hotel is in a beautiful area of San Isidro and everything within walking distance- restaurants, market, drug stores, Money Exchange, etc! When in Lima, I would not consider staying elsewhere. If you like informal high rise hotels, then El Golf is not for you. But, if you like personal service and Boutique style, then El Golf is...
Read moreI rented the senior suite with a jacuzzi that was not functioning properly, and to make matters worse, there was no hot water in the room and it had a terrible odor. I raised my concerns with the staff at the reception, including the manager, and although they attempted to fix the jacuzzi (resulting in unpleasant findings when they opened it up), the hot water issue persisted. Despite speaking to the staff multiple times, they initially insisted that there was hot water available. It took the staff coming to the room while my sick friend was showering to finally confirm that the water temperature was not sufficient. The room also had a foul smell because of the mold on the walls and insects were emerging from the sink each morning. In conclusion, this hotel did not live up to its advertised...
