On my arrival to Lima I stayed in San Isidro Inn in a standard room for over a week while looking for an apartment. It is a nice hotel located in one of the best neighborhoods of Lima - safe and beautiful, 5 min walk from the park where you can enjoy a panoramic sea view, go jogging, ride a bicycle, etc. You cant fail to feel an air of peace and serenity around this place. (Ok, last night a couple of merry ladies made a bit of a noise after 2am, but hey, Copa América is on!!) There are a couple of restaurants nearby. I recommend Café A & Bistro - a fine little place to enjoy your lunch or dinner or read a paper on a Sunday over a long brunch. Its owner/chef Ashton really takes pride in his work (located near gas station and two other restaurants). San Isidro Inn is a 3 star colonial-style hotel. I must say they exceed this rating - I would easily give them four. Rooms are on a smaller side but not tiny, and for my taste all the things were just where I wanted them to be, even such a small thing as bedside lights were just of the right brightness. Bathroom: good shower, everything spotless clean, snow white quality towels - changed daily, same as bed linens. Bed and pillows were great too, I slept well. I read some reviews here regarding rooms being cold. Well, it is Peruvian winter right now, I find the weather to be very pleasant (El Niño!) and cannot confirm the rooms being cold at all. Bed is covered with a warm duvet and, in case Rajasthan plains in July is more your thing, then there is an extra duvet in the wardrobe - but I cant imagine ever needing it. Rooms have a tely, fridge (minibar includes beer, water, cola and juices) and a phone. They dont have iron/ironing board or a hairdryer. Ironing is actually not a big problem due to humidity. If you hang something on a hanger overnight it will be wearable by the morning, WiFi is free. Breakfast has adequate choice of items: eggs and sausages for hot breakfast, fruit yoghurt and cornflakes, quality fresh juice, toasts, ham, cheese, butter, jam, tea and coffee. In-room dining is also available but I haven't tried it. Hotel staff is courteous and friendly without being OTT. I was very happy with my stay and would easily recommend...
Read moreTotal disaster. New owner. Been coming for years and but not worth it anymore. First room we were assigned had tools and piping and wet rags and toilet piping gunk on the floor. The bathroom was under maintenance. Second room was wrong size beds for us. Not what we ordered. Third room they gave us was ok, until we went to use the bathroom. Did not flush.
Lobby has a little fridge. It is locked so as a guest you have to ring a bell to get them to unlock and get something. We asked for water bottles and the attendant said they were out. Maybe tomorrow. We needed to wait.
I went downstairs to find the owner after third room debacle. Lobby attendant got him on the phone. He insisted I tell him the problem over the phone and not in person. He would not come and talk to me. I left in a hurry, told him to tell me yes or no if he talks to guests. Silence. I hung up the phone and walked away. He chased me down a bit later in the hallway.
My parents stay here. They also told me this trip the food quality went down for the breakfast.
So all in all. Me my family and may parents are finding another place.
736pm update - they only give two small towels per room. Mgt Policy. So if you are parents with kids. You’re out of luck
736pm update - no breakfast service on Sundays. Just because. Strange for a hotel.
800pm update - bathroom window won’t close tightly, let’s cold air in. It’s cold in Lima today. It won’t close. So the room is cold as well. Called management. They told me this was a new window and a previous guests fault it won’t close. See the pic of the...
Read moreThis hotel looks pretty much like the pictures outside but indoors not so much. The location is great (I was looking for a calm neighborhood). There is a supermarket like 5 minutes away walking and it is really beautiful, it is called Vivanda. Returning back to the hotel, the most negative aspect I found is that it is veery cold inside. I live in the coastal part of Ecuador so the coldest weather in here is 21 C with luck! There, it was like 10 C but felt like 5 C because its windy. Personally, I felt so much cold. The breakfast is great, its like a mini buffet with eggs, breads, jams, coffee, milk, sausages, and fruits. BUT, you must eat fast because the food gets really cold after a while. The rooms are quite small, they do have a private bathroom that is okay but dark even if you turn on the light and the bedroom as well. The cold can be a positive aspect if you are with your boyfriend/girlfriend so you can cuddle :) ||Finally, I ended up staying here because I looked up for a cheap and nice hostel in Trip Advisor and I must say I'm happy with the decision. ||||Tip: Some taxi drivers do not know the exact location of the hotel. You must give them the exact address and also tell them that is near the Vivanda grocery store...
