History served with mustard and a side of bureaucracy. Bar Cordano isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a national relic that’s been plating Peruvian staples since 1905, right next to the Presidential Palace.

The walls ooze history (and maybe a little humidity), having hosted everyone from presidents to poets to probably spies disguised as sandwich enthusiasts. Its jamón del país sandwich? Salty, glorious, and aged like the furniture. The pisco sour? Depends on who’s shaking it, either a spiritual experience or a suspicious lemon foam event.

This place has been standing for over 119 years, covers about 280 square meters, and was declared a Cultural Heritage Site in 1989. It’s run by the workers since 1978, so yes, your server might also be the co-owner which may explain the service speed: historic.

Cordano is not for the rushed or the refined. It’s for travelers who want to chew through history and maybe get mildly ghosted by the waitstaff. Still, the ambiance? 10/10. Time-travel never tasted this porky. Come for the nostalgia, stay because your food took 45 minutes to arrive. Classic....

Let me start with Wow!

We found the Restaurant Cordano by walking around the neighbourhood and thought to give it a try - we were not disappointed and are always happy to come back!

A family owned business with over 112 years of history! You can feel it inside and can see many pictures that witnessed the history.

The restaurant has seating inside and outside as well as in the bar, and serves in my opinion the best Sanguches in Lima.

Try the Sanguche del Norte for S/15 or the Sanguche Chicharrón for S/18, both taste incredible. Besides the pickled onions we recommend to add some mayonnaise, it tastes really amazing!

The menu offers hot and cold drinks, as well as main dishes like Lomo Saltado (S/40), Fish, Tacu Tacu etc.

The protocols are being followed and you are not allowed to enter the restaurant without a temperature check and desinfection of your hands.

We will always stop by for a sanguche and recommend it to our family...

I went by myself after 35 years , the place is falling apart I know is an old building and históric but the owners can do better than just put wood reinforcements all over the place , one more thing prices are high and the quality is terrible a double expresso 14 soles with all kind of coffee sediments at bottom of the cup , butifarra sándwich 24 soles the freaking ham was dry as the walls of that place, things have change a lot , this place become famous for presidents and writers going for a good cup of coffee and a good sándwich , if you go be ready to spent 3 times more than a regular coffee shop anywhere in Lima and the...

My boyfriend and I went here for lunch and it was fantastic. There are two sections of the restaurant: one is a cafe and was full of people and energy, and the other was a sit-down restaurant and a bit quieter. I ordered the Ceviche and it came with corn and warm sweet potato. It was delicious! My boyfriend ordered the Lomo, which is a great choice if you are super hungry! It came with french fries, fried onions, tomatoes, and other delicious veggies. Remember, only order it if you are hungry because it is a LOT of food! Try your lunch with Inka-Cola, which is a special soft drink made by the Coca-Cola company and is super popular in Peru!
