Glad the menu was updated since last May: more variety with more emphasis on criollo dishes. I went there several times during my stay, and the food and service fluctuate between satisfactory to lacking. Never saw a manager on site, just the waiters without supervision which is never a good thing. I recommend the “Aguadito”, the “ Ají de gallina” both filling and savory. Stay away from the “Pastel de choclo” which used to be my comfort food, but now they have replaced the ground meat (which is a must) with tough pieces of unchewable meat. I left all of it, and gave feedback to the waiter who did not understand that the dish was and should be made with ground meat. His excuse is that they buy it from somewhere else. And we hope that that somewhere else is not using dog meat, which happens in this country. This is the time when a trained manager would have come in handy. The “Turron de Doña Pepa” a traditional dessert made in October, was served contained in a plastic film, which makes it difficult to eat- the caramel sticks to it, and the dough being too crumbly, getting an intact mouthful became a...
Read moreA restaurant in a mall? That would sound like a good place to taste Peruvian food. Quite the opposite! Tanta is quite a good choice to try different dishes from Peruvian Cuisine (whicho, by the way, is among the best in the world). I tried three different dishes, and they were all really good and the portions are very well served. They also have good options for alcoholic and non-acoholic drinks. Since I´d been drinking pisco the whole week I went for their frui juices, and they were really refreshing. I cannot speak for all desserts, as I did not have any but one: tres leches - it was quite exquisite as well. Well, in terms of cost, a meal, with a drink, dessert and coffee cost me BRL 120.00 (AUD 30.00; USD 20.00). Cheap? I would say I would not be able to eat out frequently, but considering the service provided plus the quality and amount of food I had I would it was pretty fair. Serving staaff is also well-trained, and super friendly. Therefore, when I return to Lima, I will definetely come...
Read moreBrief quick summary, the best "lomo saltado" and "turron" can be found here. That should almost always be your number one choice, and then some side dishes such as "anticucho". For any other dish, yes they are tasty but not really worth the price, it is a bit over the market cuz of marketing, branding, and furnishings. Almost always full at lunch, so if you want to go be early, otherwise there will be a line and too few waiters to attend on time (tho they are still good and attentive, but its just too less for the...
